TAEBO

1. Identify and discuss the movements that are executed in the following:
a. Transverse Plane -divides your body into top and bottom halves. When you perform
movements of rotation. Where in Taebo, it involves some sort of body segment or joint
rotation. The best example of exercise executed in Taebo is the jabs, punch, hook and
upper-cut. Also often neglected or performed with poor movement technique and
range of motion leading to compensation from other muscle groups or movement.
b. Sagittal Plane- divides your body into right and left halves. Exercises in Taebo involves
flexion and extension, or forward and backward movement, squats, toe raises and most
commonly the kicking that may refer to as sagittal plane movement.
c. Frontal Plane- divides your body into front and back halves. However in Taebo the
exercises you perform on the frontal plane consist of side-to-side rather than front-and-
back motion. Movements of abduction and adduction occur on it. A side leg lift for
example and also lifting your arms like you are holding a dumbbell is one of the
examples of Taebo.
2. Identify and discuss the anatomical terms of motion applied to the following:
a. Basic Stance – the motion applied in basic stance is abduction and adduction. It is the
defensive stance, with your feet shoulder-width apart and your right foot about a foot
ahead of your left--and then your left ahead of your right, once you complete your
combination on the right side of your body. You should be light on your feet, with your
shoulders relaxed and your fists up to guard your face. And when it’s done make the
close fists. Your fingers should be curled in, and your thumb rests along your pointer,
middle and index finger. Once your form is prepared, you are ready to begin hitting.

b. Punches- One type of punches is the upper-cut punch- this is a powerful technique that
is utilized to strike targets such as an opponent’s jaw or to deliver body blows, the
motion applied to it is the flexion ,adduction , extension and abduction. Second type of
punches is the jab punch- is often a quick but less powerful punch used to keep an
opponent off-balance and on the defensive, the motion applied to this punch is same as
the upper-cut punch.
c. Kicks- there are two types of kicks involve in Taebo the oblique kicks and front snap kick
where in the motion applied are extension, flexion, dorsiflexion and plantar flexion.

3. Identify the muscles and bones utilized and developed in Taebo based on the following:
a. Basic Stance- Consisting of the clavicle (collar bone) and scapula (shoulder blade), the
pectoral girdle forms the attachment point between the arm and the chest. Our arms
and hands require a balance of strength and dexterity to perform diverse tasks such as
lifting heavy boxes, swimming, playing a musical instrument, and writing. The joints of
the arm and hand permit a wide range of motion while maintaining the strength of the
upper limb. Many skeletal muscles attach to and pull on these bones to move them with
strength, speed, and accuracy. Like all bones of the body, upper limb bones help the
body to maintain homeostasis by storing minerals and fats and by producing blood cells
in the red bone marrow.
b. Punches- Hinge joints allow movement in one direction, as seen in the knees and elbows. By
“legs”, referring specifically to the quads and the calf muscles. This is something that should be
ingrained into anybody ever wanting to learn how to do anything powerful with their body. The
hips hold your lower body and legs together. They also generate a huge amount of power by
pivoting your whole body when you need. Another important function is that your hips have to
do with how well you are balanced. Since your hips are very close to your body’s center-of-
gravity, stronger hips would mean that you have better control of your balance. The abdominal
muscles are a very powerful set of muscles that hold your whole body together. The back also
funtions as a total body core muscle by holding your body together and combining the power
generated by all your limbs. The chest muscles are your upper body core muscles. Their most
important functions are to connect your shoulders, arms, and lats into one combined force. The
neck is for punch resistance. Especially when you do upper-cut punches and jab punches it may
affect those muscles and bones in your body.

c. Kicks - Skeletal muscles are voluntary muscles, which means you can control what they do.
Your leg won't bend to kick the soccer ball unless you want it to. These muscles help to make
up the musculoskeletal Skeletal muscles are held to the bones with the help of tendons .
Tendons are cords made of tough tissue, and they work as special connector pieces between
bone and muscle. The tendons are attached so well that when you contract one of your
muscles, the tendon and bone move along with it. There are 2 types of kicks involved in Tae bo
oblique kicks and front snap kick.
