Plant it 4 the Planet
Your task is to create a sustainable,
environmentally friendly plant pot. But that’s
not all… You need to sell it to me! Create an
advertisement to persuade garden centres to
want to use your design in their workshops!

 Using the techniques you have
learned during your unit on
persuasive writing, you will create
an advertisement to sell your plant
pot to a target audience.
Design Technologies
 You will create your plant pot using
sustainable and environmentally
friendly materials.
Digital Technologies
 You will create an advertisement
promoting your product. This can be
done in the following formats:
o TV/YouTube advertisement
(video)
o Radio advertisement (audio)
o Magazine or newspaper
(print)
o Poster or billboard
o Other (you tell me!)
Science
 You will need to research
background information about
plants, plant growth requirements
and plant cycles to be able to
formulate an appropriate design.
You will also need to know about
sustainable environments.
HASS
 You will need to understand WHY
you are designing a plant pot. Why
is plastic pollution such a big
problem?
Step 1:
Design a plant pot plan of your own before pairing
up with a partner and choosing the best elements
from each design, creating a brand new design.
Step 2:
Interview various members of the local community
and garden centres to conduct research into the
current techniques used by plant suppliers to pot
plants. Make adjustments to your design if needed.
Step 3:
Create your design using materials collected. Ensure your
design is sustainable, good for the environment, uses
limited/no plastic and can be easily planted from/using
pot.
Step 4:
Create your advertisement! You can use any form of
advertising you choose; however you must ensure you
use appropriate persuasive techniques for your target
audience. Think back to English!
Step 5:
Upload a photo of your product as well as your
advertisement to the class SeeSaw. Underneath your
advertisement, write a short synopsis outlining your
target audience and aim of the advertisement.
Step 6:
While watching/looking at the advertisements as a
class, fill out a self-reflection as well as peer
reflections on other plant pot ideas. Note down any
changes you would make or any ideas you liked from
other advertisements. Answer all questions on the
self-reflection sheet thinking critically about your
answers.
