Personal Profile
The Personal Profile is a crucial section in your UBC application. This is your chance to tell us
about the things that are important to you, your significant achievements, what you’ve learned
from your experiences, and the challenges you’ve overcome. It’s our chance to determine
whether you’re a good fit for UBC and if you’ll receive an entrance scholarship.

Application Tips
As you complete the online application, keep the following tips in mind:

● Start early and take your time. Once you begin the application, you will be able to save
it and return to it later – but only up until the deadline. Once you have submitted your
application to UBC, you will not be able to edit it. Since the online application can
sometimes time out if left open for too long, we recommend working on your Personal
Profile questions outside of the application (where you can run them through a spell-
checker) then copy and paste them into your application.
● Let the online application guide you. You’ll be asked to provide only the information
we need based on your degree choice(s), your previous education, and other factors.
● Tell us your full academic history. It’s important to include all of the high schools,
colleges, and/or universities you have attended. Don’t leave anything out!
● Be accurate. UBC has a number of methods in place to authenticate information
provided in the application. These methods include, but are not limited to, contacting
references, verifying academic records, and requesting additional documentation to
verify your Personal Profile. If an application is found to contain untrue or incomplete
information, UBC may, at its discretion: withdraw an offer of admission; require you to
withdraw from UBC; subject you to academic discipline; or share the information
provided with other post-secondary institutions, law enforcement agencies, or other third
parties.
● Use an email address you check frequently. Once you have submitted your
application, UBC will communicate with you primarily by email.
● Note your UBC student number. Write down your UBC student number somewhere
safe. You’ll need it in future correspondence with UBC.

Submit your Application and Pay the Fees

Finalize and submit your application, and pay the non-refundable fee. Be sure to consult your
faculty website to see if additional deadlines and fees apply for your degree. All figures are in
Canadian dollars.

You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and you wish to be considered for the

International high school students

You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to upload unofficial documents to the Student Service Centre.

Official transcripts must be sent directly from your school to UBC in one of three ways:

 Option 1 (preferred method): Transcripts should be signed and enclosed in an official school envelope by
a counsellor or an administrator at your school. Official school envelopes should have a printed school logo,
stamp, or official seal prominently displayed. Plain envelopes without a school logo, stamp, or official seal
will not be considered official.
 Option 2: In the event your school does not provide school envelopes or mail transcripts on behalf of their
students, it is acceptable for you to provide your school with an envelope and postage and allow them to
enclose your transcript for you. Please ensure that your school counsellor or administrator signs and places
an official stamp or seal on your transcript, and the envelope you have provided, before mailing it to UBC.
 Option 3: Talk to your counsellor about sending your documents electronically through Naviance or
Docufide.

If you attended or are currently attending a Canadian high school outside of Canada, please refer to the
document submission instructions for Canadian high school students.

All required documents for undergraduate applications to the Okanagan and Vancouver
campuses should be sent to:

Undergraduate Admissions
2016 – 1874 East Mall
Vancouver, BC, Canada V6T 1Z1

UBC will only review requested documents. If you send documents that were not requested, it
will delay our evaluation of your application.

Original certificates, degrees, or diplomas

If UBC requests an original certificate, degree, or diploma (e.g., a bachelor’s degree certificate,
an Indian 10+2 certificate, or A-level/GCSE results), you may mail the official, original document
directly to UBC.

If you cannot send the original document to UBC, we will accept a true copy of the original
document so long as the following conditions are met:

The true copy is sent directly from the school where you obtained the certificate, degree, or
diploma.
The true copy is signed and enclosed in an official envelope by an administrator at the
educational institution.
Both the true copy and the official envelope prominently display the school’s logo, stamp, or
official seal.
