Degree Program : Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education

Course Code : Math 118
Course Title : Solid Geometry
Prerequisite : Math 112 – Advanced Algebra
Requisite to :
Credit Units : 3 Total no. of Hrs: 54 Total No. of Hrs. Per Week : 3
Course Description : This course involves three-dimensional structures and their constructions, measures, and analysis of properties. Because we live
in a three-dimensional world, students must learn to function with enhanced spatial skills. This serves as a fundamental course for
the study of volume and multivariable functions in calculus. The use of graphing calculators and computer algebra systems is
highly encouraged.

Course Objective
General : Through this course, the students will better appreciate the relevance of the concepts in geometry by associating the lessons
with real-life objects and situations which require thorough analysis of surface area and volume. The students will be able to develop
techniques in determining required dimensions and measures by applying algebraic and geometric concepts.

Specific : At the end of the course, the students must have:

1. differentiate various types of geometric solids
2. construct geometric solids
3. tell the properties of geometric solids
4. determine required measures of geometric solids
5. perform accurate mathematical calculations
6. develop efficient problem analysis and solving techniques

Values to be Integrated : Punctuality, Honesty, Orderliness, Decisiveness, Creativity, Accuracy, Innovativeness, Enthusiasm and
Cheerfulness.

Course Requirements : 1. Seatwork, Assignments, Quizzes

2. Examination Requirements: There will be one written examination each term
3. Projects and Attendance
4. Mid/Final Term Examination

Methodology : Lecture/Discussion, interactive learning, collaborative and experiential teaching strategies.

Grading : Class Standing/Midterm Exam and Final Term
1. Quizzes 20%
2. Seatwork/Assignment/Worksheet 15%
3. Recitation 10%
4. Project 5%
5. Attendance 10%
4. Midterm Exam/Final Exam 40%

The grading formula to be used is: [(Score/Total number of Items)* 50] + 50

Midterm Grade: 60% class standing + 40% Midterm Examination
Final Term Grade: 60% class standing + 40% Final Examination
Final Grade: 40% Midterm Grade + 60% Final Grade
