STANDARD PRACTICES
SPECIAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. INFORMATION
This topic provides information on the tools and equipment required to maintain and service the airplane. This information is divided
into two sections: Special Tools and Equipment, and Locally Manufactured Tools.
Special Tools and Equipment uses a table format to provide a comprehensive listing of the tools and their respective part numbers
and specifications.
Locally Manufactured Tools provides the necessary information to enable selected tools to be locally manufactured by an airplane
owner or service center.

2. SPECIAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

The special tools and equipment listed in Table 1 are provided as an example of the equipment designed to perform a specific
function. Generic or locally manufactured tools that are the equivalent with respect to accuracy, function and craftsmanship may be
used in lieu of those listed.
Table 1 is divided into four columns:
• ITEM - this column provides a sequential list of the reference number assigned to each special tool or piece of equipment.
This item number is used throughout the maintenance manual when reference is made to a tool or piece of equipment.
• TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT - this column provides the name assigned to the tool or piece of equipment. It also provides
information on the capabilities, specification or requirements for the item.
• PART NUMBER - this column provides the supplier`s part number for the item.
• SUPPLIER - this column furnishes the supplier of the special tools and equipment. The technician may use an item from a
different supplier as long as the item meets or exceeds the established requirements. In certain cases only the specified item
may be used. In this case the PART NUMBER column will contain the statement `NO SUBSTITUTE' to inform the technician
that an alternate item is not acceptable.
