Studies have shown that the use of audio-visual aids in the classroom is greatly

helpful for the students in developing an understanding of complex concepts. The use of

these devices enables the students to grasp these concepts quickly and easily. Latest

technological advancements present many options before the teachers to make their jobs

easier. It is for this reason that teachers all over the world have started incorporating the

use of audio-visual aids in their lesson plans.

The instructional aides help the teachers to impart the knowledge better than trying

through the ordinary ways of teaching. Singh claimed through his research in 2005 that

any technological equipment which enhances the student's experiences to learn through

hearing or seeing then the typical learning comes under the label of visual aids. Thus,

with the help of visual aids the learning process is made more convenient and interactive;

however, the technical way of presenting the information regarding the charts, graphs,

and data in the table form is known as the instructional way of using the visual

technique.

De Francisco, B. (2018) stated that In order to stimulate leaner’s attention and arouse

their interest, we should (or we must) use visual aids in order to help us to explain

concepts, grammar points, or even elicit topics in a smoother way.

I usually start a lesson with an image or a video that relates to the topic of the lesson I

am teaching. This will activate students’ schemata almost immediately. I generally spend

3 minutes to explore the topic and the picture itself and later I use background images to

support learning. I also use visual aids to lower students anxieties and increase their

affective filters. Using images and photos they will likely relate to, will increase the

chances they feel a sense of familiarity in your classroom.

Not only do visual aids facilitate the teaching sphere, they also provide the students

with the chance of identifying or recognizing the lessons objectives, goals and functions.

It’s been said, that a picture is worth a thousand words. This is exactly right in

education, where visual engagement has been playing an increasingly important role.

This concept is defined as the use of technology that helps educators visually interact

with learners and help them understand vital information.

Visual engagement tools come in many forms, including video, co-browsing,

screen sharing, screen annotations, and WebRTC. They help educators to enhance

classroom experiences and interactive learning opportunities.

For example, interactive technology can make the process of learning truly
engaging, so learners’ desire to learn doesn’t decrease.

We all know that should never provide a full-of-text screen to students. Well, that is

too plain and boring compared to how much effort you put into the instructional content.

Then we need something that appeals to students and supports them throughout the

learning process. That is exactly the capability of visual design. It makes the course more

enjoyable with graphics. However, it is not all about look. Visual aids for learning could

make such great difference in the outcomes. They help learners understand the

complicated ideas and recall the information much better.

Few things catch the attention of our students like the planned use of online AV

resources in our teaching. Students today spend a considerable amount of time online.

activities and integrate into our own teaching.This short activity using online AV

resources introduces We too can also tap into this world to find useful resources that we

can build into the students to some of the key ideas that I cover in my lecture and keeps

them engaged with the topic. This makes our students engage with texts in ways that

they are familiar with and can assist in making our teaching a success.
