EPS malfunction indicator
During the engine start-up process, as the amount of power supplied by the
battery goes down momentarily, there may be instances where the power
steering module does not receive sufficient power and fails to provide suffi-
cient steering assistance. At this point, you would need to turn off the engine
(by positioning the ENGINE START-STOP switch in the LOCK position) and
then re-start the engine.
During the course of the drive, this indicator comes on indicating that the
power steering system has been turned off. At this point, stop the vehicle
in a safe spot and turn off the engine (by positioning the ENGINE START-
STOP switch in the LOCK position). Then, re-start the engine. If the indi-
cator comes on again, please head to a service provider in a timely manner
for service.

›› If the power steering system indicator comes on, it means that the pow-
er steering system has been turned off. At this point, you would need
more effort to turn the steering wheel although the steering function
is still available. There is no safety risk under such circumstances.
›› Do not turn the steering wheel fully in either direction and hold it there
for an extended period of time. Keeping the steering wheel in the full-
lock position for extended periods of time may lead to overheating of
the EPS, possibly even damage.
›› The EPS system may become less efficient when the steering wheel
has been turned frequently for an extended period of time. Under such
circumstances, the steering wheel will feel 'heavier' to turn. Should
such a situation arise, the driver should try to cut down on the frequen-
cy of wheel turning, or to stop the vehicle in a safe spot and turn off the
engine, and the system will return back to normal within 10 minutes.
