ABSTRACT:

Internet-of-Things (IoT) is the significant integration of electronic devices, vehicles, buildings, and other
articles to collect, capture and exchange the data. The project proposes an effective system that can
be implemented using IoT for controlling and monitoring the office electronics applications using the
World Wide Web. The smart office referred to as a wireless automation system that can be supposed
to be implemented in existing office area environments, without making any changes in the
infrastructure. The proposed system is designed to control and monitor electrical appliances using a
smartphone via Bluetooth as communication protocol and also raspberry pi as server system. The
office monitoring system prototype includes a gateway with user interactions capabilities, this
experiment demonstrates that the proposed gateway work efficiently by transmitting and receiving
instructions from different protocols, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows user to interact with the
ambient environment settings.

OBJECTIVES:

 To create a cost-effective automated system for offices, hotels and other workspaces.
 To develop an automation system that controls various electrical devices in the office.
 To develop an automated system that overcomes the drawbacks of wired model and revise
its efficiency and usability.
 To develop an automated system that will be free of human errors with high security
measures.
 To develop a highly interactive system to provide ease in daily life of an employee in the
workplace.

INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE DOMAIN:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital
machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability
to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer
interaction.

The definition of the Internet of Things has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies,
real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors and embedded systems. Traditional fields
of embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation (including home and
building automation), and others all contribute to enabling the Internet of Things. In the consumer
market, IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept of the "smart
home", covering devices and appliances (such as lighting fixtures, thermostats, home security
systems and cameras, and other home appliances) that support one or more common ecosystems,
and can be controlled via devices associated with that ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart
speakers.

The extensive set of applications for IoT devices is often divided into consumer, commercial,
industrial, and infrastructure spaces. The IoT's major significant trend in recent years is the explosive
growth of devices connected and controlled by the Internet. The wide range of applications for IoT
technology mean that the specifics can be very different from one device to the next but there are
basic characteristics shared by most.

The IoT creates opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based
systems, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.

The number of IoT devices increased 31% year-over-year to 8.4 billion in the year 2017 and it is
estimated that there will be 30 billion devices by 2020. The global market value of IoT is projected to
reach $7.1 trillion by 2020.
