About the Product
Alere HIV Combo is a qualitative
HIV test kit for the early identification of
HIV positive patients. The test kit can
detect HIV Type 1 and Type 2 (HIV-1 and
HIV-2) antibodies, and HIV-1 p24 antigen
in the patient’s blood sample.
How it works
If HIV-1 p24 antigen is present
the patient’s sample, it will bind with the
biotinylated anti-HIV-1 p24 antibody
present in the SP, and then with the
monoclonal anti-HIV-1 p24 antibody-
colloidal selenium present in the CP to
form a complex. This complex moves via
capillary action to the UTA and is then
captured by immobilized streptavidin,
forming a pink/red line in the UTA.
