1. What do you think you have learnt from this class so far?

First of all, I want to say ‘thanks a lot’ to Mr. Ridwan, who has reminded me that learning
English is FUN. Some teaching methods in senior high school were boring so I was excited when
I joined to this class. ICE BREAKER is one of our activities I loved the most. We did this before
we started the class. It was just like an alarm when I tired. But this alarm didn’t make me angry,
it made me happy. He also gave some games at the end of the class.

I have learnt many things since the first meeting. I think that this class has a good learning
system. This class provided us to learn about many things in one subject. For example, the
subject is cross culture understanding. When the class started until the end of the class we didn’t
just study about the differences between two or more culture. We also learn about how we start a
conversation, using verbs, adjectives, and nouns, tenses, new vocabulary and many others.

In the first week, Mr. Ridwan gave us an assignment to wrote a paper about our personal
data, profesional carrier goals, and the methods to achieve that goals. In the next week, we have
to identified about the unique of ourself, what makes us similar, and explained why English is
important for us. Through this two weeks, we can know more deeply about ourself, about our
friends uniqueness, and realize that learning English is important.

In third week, we learned about culture cue. As a human, we must to understand and cope
with the differences. We should have tolerance, respectfull, and increase our cultural
sensitiveness. We also played a bingo game about our friends habit. This session increased our
knowledge about grammar, especially in grammatically correct question, and made us more
active in learning.

The fourth meeting was the funniest. We learned about the differences between British and
American English. It was funny moment because all of us tried to spoke English with different
accent. Through this, we can identified words belong to British and American English, their
accent, also distinguished both standards.

In the fifth week, we learned about misunderstanding. We shared our experience of

misunderstanding and how to improved it. We have given some tips on misunderstanding so that
in the future we can avoid and solve misunderstanding well.

From the sixth week, we learned about good manner based on the different rules from
many countries. We taught how to adapt in abroad by know the good manner in every country.
One conclusion that I got from this lesson is “don’t judge people from their appearance, respect
for others”.

Then, the last meeting before midtest, we compared nursing system in Indonesia and in
UK. It reminded us that our system progress still far from abroad. We realized that we should
increase nursing skills in Indonesia so that we can increase public welfare. Beside that, we also
shared our opinion about working overseas and what are the nurses need to prepare it.

2. What may you suggest for our class development in the rest of the semester?

I think the class has been fun, useful, and has a good learning system. I just want to suggest
something related to how we answered the question from Mr. Ridwan. I know that most of us are
not good in English, including me, so Mr. Ridwan told us that we can answered in Bahasa. I
understand that Mr. Ridwan didn’t want to forced us. But some of my classmate did it in almost
every meeting. I think we should find a method to solve this problem. First, sometimes we should
put them in situation that they must speak English, eventhough a little bit. Next, maybe the
teacher can give an assignment to explain their favorite song. It can increase their desire to learn
many vocabularies.
