In-Country Operations Representative

REPORTS TO: Project Team (during operational readiness phase) and ultimately to Country/Region
Manager

BUSINESS OBJECTIVE:
Clariant intends to set up its operation in Georgetown for the provision of production chemicals
and associated services to the Guyana Deepwater operation. This will include an operational
readiness phase that consists in the identification and the set up of a chemical supply base in
Georgetown and the development of a safe and sustainable chemical supply operation in
accordance with Clariant’s quality standards and client expectations.

FUNCTION:
The successful candidate should be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and a winning
attitude; enjoys working in a collaborative environment, with responsibility for the coordination of
the in country operational readiness activities. This will include customer and supplier contact,
logistics activities, supply base operational readiness in alignment with the business strategy. The
operational readiness phase is interim and will ultimately transition to a supply base
operator/manager or chemical field support representative at the commencement of contract
activities.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, or petroleum), Science, Chemistry,
Business, or Industrial Distribution, preferred. Combination of high school diploma and field
experience, may be considered.
Five plus years’ experience in industrial, mechanical, chemical or marine activities.
Knowledge of oil & gas production operation is preferred. Adjacent industrial experience can be
considered.
Experience in supply chain, logistics and handling of chemical products is desired.
Strong organizational and project management skills desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represent Clariant in Guyana in a professional manner at all times.

2. Maintains and build strong working relationships with the various business partners and
stakeholders associated with Clariant’s business in Guyana.
3. Support the development and implementation of the new country entry and operational
readiness business plan.
4. Track, evaluate and report operational readiness activities to project team regularly.
5. Report, troubleshoot, Investigate and resolve operational readiness issues.
 6. Supports Business Development Team in reading, and / or responding to RFPs and
Specifications received from customers and prospects and provide input into bid
submission.

7. Supports all aspects of safety on the job, including the operation and maintenance of
assigned company vehicle. Responsible for reading and complying with Company policies
on Safety, Product Stewardship and shipping of analytical samples. Complies with all local
safety regulations. Ensures field organization is properly trained and complies with all
company and local safety policies and regulations.

8. Supports and is committed to Company Quality Management Programs. Ensures field

organization is properly trained and committed to Company Quality Management
Programs.
