Major 7 Arpeggio Cheat Sheet

An arpeggio means playing the notes of a chord one by one. Major 7 arpeggios are built with
root (1), major third (3), perfect fifth (5) and major seventh (7). They are basically used to play
over Major 7 chords.

Guitar Arpeggio Shapes

One-octave Shapes

The first four shapes show how

to play a Maj7 arpeggio within
the space of one octave. Each
shape has the lowest root on a
different string.

The next two shapes show how

to play a maj7 arpeggio within
the space of two octaves. The
notes are spread out over the
six strings.
Two-octave Shapes
It is very important to trans-
pose these shapes in all twelve
keys. You just have to move
the root to the desired note
keeping the same intervals.

Related Chord Shapes

Here are three maj7 chord

shapes.
The idea is to connect them
with the previous arpeggios.
