The contribution of marketing in an organization fits into a given sectoral context. The fundamentals
of marketing, often understood in contexts of consumer products, prove to be insufficient to establish
a marketing strategy specific to an industrial sector or in the world of services. This is why the objective
of this module is to complete the student marketing training. More specifically, it involves raising
8
awareness of the specificity of marketing in the areas of service and customer relations on the one hand
and on the other hand the business-to-business sector.
B2B marketing is the marketing of companies that sell to professionals: businesses, administrations,
craftsmen ... compared to B2C marketing where customers are individuals or households. This module
also addresses service marketing as a complementary field and introduces students to the practice of
service marketing with a focus on discussing the most common principles and theories in this area. The
application of service marketing concepts to real business situations is done through case analysis and
an external project at the end of the module.
a) Describe the Business to Business sector and the different areas of activity attached to it.
b) Analyze key marketing concepts in a business-to-business sector
c) Become familiar with the marketing concepts of services:
• Show that service features create a real and successful customer experience.
• Learn how to deploy targeted service marketing strategies in a variety of specific marketing
situations.
• Develop a knowledge and appreciation of research applicable to marketing services
d) Integrate the service marketing application into a Business to Business context

Intitulé du cours / Course Title Corporate Strategy
Semestre / Semester 7
ECTS 2
22
The corporate strategy course provides a comprehensive overview of the most important concepts and
tools in strategic management. It also focuses on the understanding of multi-product, multilocation
and multi-business firms. Based on the theoretical frameworks of the market-based view and the
resource-based view, particular attention is paid to the strategic planning process (particularly the
diagnosis process and the strategic choices of companies).
This course is subdivided into 4 modules. The first introduces the notion of strategy by addressing and
defining the concepts related thereto (its importance, its goals, its basic concepts, its different forms,
…). The second deals with the process of strategic diagnosis with a particular emphasis on the
company’s environment and resources and competences analysis. The third module will then focus on
the company's strategic choices or orientations with particular emphasis on competitive strategies with
the definition of strategic business units (SBU), development or growth strategies (matrix ANSOFF) and
internationalization strategies (i.e why multinational enterprises adopt different global strategies).
Finally, the last module will try to explain how the company should apply its strategic choices/growth
methods. Should the company adopt outsourcing, internalization (Do It Yourself) or alliances.
a) Ability to select and apply the specific tools of strategic diagnosis (SWOT, PESTEL, PORTER,
VRIN, Value Chain, etc.)
b) Ability to identify and describe the strategic choices of a company, review the reasons for these
choices and the outcomes (success or failure) associated with those choices.
c) Ability to analyse business situations and create coherent business and corporate strategic
choices for a company, whatsoever its size or type.
d) To define different and possible growth options for a company (Mergers and Acquisitions,
Alliances Organic development).
e) To create strategic plan in the form of concrete recommendations to strengthen the company's
position (if already successful) or to help it to develop (if unsuccessful).
The aim of this course is to promote independent student learning (flipped classroom) while
maintaining a close relationship with the teacher. Regular practical work (case studies).

• Examen final / Final Exam
A final comprehensive exam is scheduled during the Final Exam Week (last week of the
academic semester). This is a 90-minute written exam and no documents are allowed.
The participation grade will take into account attendance and class participation as well as
homework assignments.
Class attendance is mandatory. Only official documents (Doctor's note, official administrative
notification) will excuse an absence or a late assignment.
If a student misses a class, it is his/her responsibility to find out what has been done in class
to catch up and to prepare whatever assignment is due for the following class. Late
assignments will be penalized 2 points per day, up to five days late; after five days, unexcused
late assignments will not be accepted.
You are encouraged to study with other students, and to discuss questions on homework
assignments in general terms. However, the work you turn in should always be your own.
Similarly, online resources can be very helpful as long as you use them wisely to better prepare
an assignment but they should never be used to “produce” your work (for instance using
Google Translate to write a text or copying paragraphs from Wikipedia is NOT acceptable).
Bibliographie / Bibliography
dessous quelques recommandations (grammaire, conjugaison, vocabulaire, communication,
français professionnel...)
It is not required to buy any books for this class. However, students are strongly encouraged
to use a grammar book on a regular basis (to review rules that they might have forgotten) and
a dictionary as well (to broaden their vocabulary). Many resources are available online (see
the links I provide on Campus (online platform), in “Useful resources”). Here are however a few
suggestions (grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, communication, professional French...)

A final comprehensive exam is scheduled during the Final Exam Week (last week of the
academic semester). This is a 90-minute written exam and no documents are allowed.
A Midterm Test is scheduled during the Midterm Test Week (around the middle of the academic
semester). This is a 60-minute written exam and no documents are allowed.
Similarly, online resources can be very helpful as long as you use them wisely to better prepare
an assignment but they should never be used to “produce” your work (for instance using
Google Translate to write a text or copying paragraphs from Wikipedia is NOT acceptable).

and realities
Année / Year 2019 - 2020
Or depuis quelques années cet
Every "European" manager will have to evolve in an environment which may seem natural and obvious
to him: a European Union built and enlarged over the years whose reality of its advantages could not
seem to be called into question. Yet for some years this apparent consensus around the European Idea
seems to be weaker (Euroscepticism, Brexit...) to the point of raising all sorts of questions. They are
related to the gap felt, rightly or wrongly, between the myth of a purely European peace and prosperity
project for its peoples and the realities of the difficulties encountered (identity, sovereignty, defense,
culture...) as it evolves in a world in full transformation.
Our future managers and their companies will not be able to avoid these changes and will have to
understand their causes and consider their consequences in order to anticipate them as effectively as
possible.
