La prueba por equipos varía en la cantidad de problemas año con año. En general,
se lleva a cabo de la siguiente manera: en equipos de 4 personas, los alumnos
tienen 10 minutos para ponerse de acuerdo y dividirse los problemas; en este tiempo
no pueden escribir nada. Después, los alumnos tienen 40 o 50 minutos para resolver
los problemas que les fueron asignados. En pruebas más recientes, se les asignan
10 minutos finales para resolver 2 o 3 problemas entre todos. Además, en pruebas
más recientes, los problemas impares requieren nada más respuesta y los pares
requieren una justificación.
