1. “We, Educators of the Youth and of our fellow Ramonians base on our personal
experiences throughout the coarse of numerous Health teaching programs we’ve
successfully implemented and finished the most effective way in teaching patients is to
use educational materials that are easy, useful but catchy materials in providing
information such as tarpaulin, flyers, and campaign posters provided and given by
Department of Health (DOH) to educate and give emphasis for important matters
community is facing. Some of our posters talks about Dengue Prevention, Tuberculosis
and the most prominent right now the Prevention of Measles. There should also be an
effective interaction a two way communication between nurse-patient to motivate and
encourage them to do the appropriate ways to have a healthy living.”
“Learn from the patient and clients will also learn from you through giving feedbacks and
make sure that your patient can easily understood what you are teaching.”

1. What do you think is the most effective way in teaching patients?
2. What characteristics should a nurse educator possess?
Response:
1. “For me, there are three effective ways of teaching patients. First, employ questioning
tactics, this may help clients develop critical thinking, decision making and problem-
solving skills a key component to active learning. Secondly, adapt role playing-a
dramatization of an unscripted event or scenario and can be used to teach
communication and relate with the patients. Lastly, practice concept mapping. In terms
of healthcare, concept mapping is a great strategy for teaching and educating patients
because it allows clients to see interrelationships of every concepts related to subject
matter that is sequential so that the topics will be appropriately discuss and easily
understood.”

2. “The qualities of an excellent nurse educators must possess is to be knowledgeable, has


the ability to teach with a right amount of information to disseminate to the clients.
Positive relationship with patients and can easily interact with them to encourage our
patients. Has a clinical/technical competence to teach effectively and acquire insights
from patients to also learn from them.”
