Rosenberger “Smart DAS” Solution

 The Rosenberger Smart DAS is able to simultaneously support

traditional Hybrid DAS architecture (i.e., high power RU driving passive
DAS) and Active DAS (low power RU with integrated antenna)
 The system can support multi-operator operation and multiple-RAN
vendors (vendor independent).
 The Smart DAS supports from 698 to 2700 MHz, with full bandwidth for
all bands in 700, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, and 2600 MHz
• New bands by changing the BTS cards in the Smart POI
 Modular BTS Card and iM2U allows “pay as you grow”
• Low initial CAPEX
 The Smart POI allows flexible and dynamic sector configuration to cope
with temporary increase in traffic and future capacity expansion.
 Both SISO and MIMO DAS can be supported simultaneously on the
same platform.

Passive DAS for LTE-A?

Pros of Passive DAS

 An all-passive coaxial cable system is highly linear
 Capable of handling multiple downlink carriers with no measurable IM
products
• IM3 of passive components typically in the range of -120 to -150 dBc
 High system reliability.

Cons of Passive DAS

 Feeder cable size is typically limited to 7/8” or 1-1/4”
 Not suitable for buildings that require long feeder runs
• Inherent insertion loss limits the size of installation to typically a 35
floor high rise building, or around 50,000 sq m
 At high frequencies, the system loss becomes very high
• Lower DL coverage, poorer uplink sensitivity and reduced SNIR
 Expensive to implement MIMO for LTE.

RADiAnt Advantages

 IRU-O is factory tested for PIM and VSWR

• Poor VSWR reduces gain; reduces coverage
• PIM causes uplink interference; reduces throughput and impacts KPI’s
 No Additional Field Testing Required
• Traditional solutions utilize discrete parts (external feeder cables,
couplers/splitters, antenna) which must be tested after integration
 Improves Installation Time and Success
• Consistent and repeatable installation
• Avoid issues relating to proper torque techniques for coax connectors
• Reduces Installation Costs and Time
 No additional localized AC or DC power required for remote units
• Traditional Solutions require an AC or DC supply for each remote unit
• Radiant NEU provides DC power for up to 16 IRU remotes
 Convenience for UPS battery backup installations
• AC Backup UPS for NEU will support NEU and IRU’s together
