to
-That does NOT mean that you MUST dance to it, you can also mime a scene if you think of something that goes with
the music, or do a funny walk to the rhythm of the music, or perhaps I’ll call out some body parts to isolate when
dancing (ex. dance with your hands, arms, shoulders, knees)

-Awesome, that was fun

beat counts

-Slowly do that hands movements with counting from 1-8
-Again slowly
-Think about how all of the even numbers are your hands together
-Slightly faster
-Slightly faster
-Faster
-I will put you in pairs and then I want you guys to see how fast you can get, SPECIFICALLY DOING THIS
PATTERN, NO CHANGING IT RIGHT NOW  count out loud together so that I can hear you
-Will split one group up and put them into groups of 3 for them to figure out how to do the pattern together

-Show how they did the pattern in groups of 3 to the class

Make a Handshake (7 min.)

-3 min in their original partners to make a handshake
-Each pair will present their handshake to the group

-Sit where you are

Conclusion (5 min.)

How might rhythm help a scene?

-flows better
-can be really cool when actors make their own music
-music can enhance a scene

How might music help a scene?

-brings out the desired mood  ex. sad music in a sad movie scene makes people FEEL teary
-can add humor
-can develop the setting of the scene  ex. the classical music might establish the setting of an opera
ex. the vintage music as in the 50’s with a couple walking their dog
with old fashioned clothes, or in an elevator
