Application and Data Server (ADS)

Description
The Metasys® Application and Data Server (ADS) is an optional
component of the Metasys system extended architecture that manages
the collection and presentation of large amounts of data. The ADS
manages the long-term storage of trend data, event messages,
operator transactions, and system configuration data. As Site Director,
the ADS provides secure communication to a network of Network
Automation Engines (NAEs) and Network Integration Engines (NIEs).
The Metasys user interface of the ADS provides flexible system
navigation, user graphics, comprehensive alarm management, and
trend analysis and summary reporting capabilities. You can efficiently
manage occupant comfort and energy usage, quickly respond to critical
events, and optimize control strategies via a Web browser. Multiple
users can gain access to information from the Building Automation
System (BAS) that uses Internet protocols and Information Technology
(IT) standards and is compatible with enterprise level communication
networks.

Required Software Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database software is required for the ADX and needs to be ordered separately. If you are
running SQL Server software, you must install Microsoft SQL Server SP4.9

2. For the split ADX configuration, the Web/Application server computer requires 200 MB free disk space available.
3. For the split ADX configuration, both computers must have a Server class operating system, though they do not need to be the same version or OS.
4. Windows Server 2003 OS R2 has been released; however, at this time we support only Windows Server 2003 OS with SP1. If you are currently running
Windows Server 2003 OS with SP1, you do not need to upgrade at this time. If you have not yet purchased Windows Server 2003 OS, you may purchase
Windows Server 2003 OS R2 through your regular channels. The Windows Server 2003 R2 installation includes Windows Server 2003 OS SP1 and optional
components. Install only Windows Server 2003 OS SP1. Do not install any of the optional R2 components.
5. Refer to the Network and Information Technology Considerations Technical Bulletin (LIT-1201578) for special settings required to make SP1 work with an ADX.
6. For the split ADX configuration, install the ADX software and IIS on the Web/Application server computer only.
7. For the split ADX configuration, the SCT cannot reside on the same computer as either the Web/Application server or the Database server.
8. For the split ADX configuration, we do not support Export Utility software.
9. For the split ADX configuration, install the SQL Server 2000 software on the Database server computer only.
