• When creating my artist website I took inspiration from musical artists that I used as inspiration was creating Jaye Blake: Jorja Smith and Mabel.
On the front page of Mabel’s website she has an image
of her. The image is small on the page however is in the centre making it the first thing the audience look at. I like how the image is so bold because it means that the audience can put a face to ‘Mabel’ a name they see in the charts. On the front page there are different buttons for example “listen now” and “watch” which if clicked they take you to the different places where you can listen to Mabel’s music. I like this because it makes the website clear and easy to use. Mabel also has her album cover on the front page. In the top right corner of the page she has her social media links where you can go and follow her on her different platforms.
Mabel’s website is all on one page and as you
scroll down there are different sections to the website. In the top corner of the front page there are links to the different sections of the website. After the homepage Mabel has a lift of live/tour dates. There is range of dates from 19th of November to 18th of March giving a good variety of opportunities. Mabel also has a link to where you can buy the tickets making it easy for the audience to use. The layout of the dates, venues and cities is clear and in collins making it easy to read and understand.
As you scroll down from the live dates you see
Mabel’s various music videos. He most recent video is big on the screen. The video is playing through YouTube. There is big red play button in the middle making it clear for the audience. The thumbnail of the video intrigues the audience because it doesn’t give too much away which adds a sense of mystery.
Mabel has a live instagram feed that gets updated.
The feed adds a personal element to the website because it is less professional. On the feed you see both sides to Mabel: her family and her performing. On the feed there are a number of different posts with captions. The audience can also the number of likes she gets. The tex of the caption is small. Mabel also has a large ‘about’ section on her website allowing her audience to find out more about her background and her success. This means the audience can connect more with her due to clearer understanding of how she got to where she is. I like how it is in the centre of the page and the text is minimalistic
I am also inspired by some of the elements in Jorja
Smith’s website. I am going to take inspiration from the image that is on her home page. I like how there are many elements in the image and how the specific colour scheme. I also like she has the same image on many different platforms such as her merchandise. I am also going to take inspiration from the merchandise on the site. I like how it is simplistic and appeals to her target demographic effectively.
My website:
I am going to base my website on template on
weebly. I have chosen this one because I like how there is one big image that you can build upon. The big image adds a more personal element to the website and means the audience can immediately but a face to the name ‘Jaye Blake’ they see in the charts. I like the buttons the top right of the page because they make the website easy to navigate and they are clear. I also like the title in the top left because its clear and bold.
I adapted the template in many ways. The first
thing I did was change the image to the image of the album cover. I then added the album cover and a button underneath it to take a link to the music. In the top right corner there is an ‘about’ button that takes the audience to where there is further information on the artist.
