Introduction

Language Barrier is the difficulties in communicating to a person that doesn't speak the
same language as yours. Language Barrier is probably the most difficult to overcome
because of ignorance and lack of understanding. It is a challenge to us people to
communicate to someone especially when you dont know the language that they're
using. Language barrier is one of the most common problem of all countries. Most of us
is experiencing this kind of problem. Especially now that Kpop is very much popular this
days. Language Barrier is their main problem in terms of communicating to their idols
and vice versa, especially if you are a international fan. You're defending on the
subtitles when watching their videos but if there is no subtitles you won't understand
them. And that is what some people don't understand why many people love and
idolized kpop. But what they don't really understand is "in music you dont have to
understand the lyrics but you can feel the feelings from what they're communicating so
why should it be different from language". Those lines came from 2018 Miss Universe
Catriona Gray. People always say don't judge a book by its cover but they do judge the
music by its language. The biggest communication problem is" WE DON'T listen to
UNDERSTAND we listen to REPLY"-Unknown.

Good conversation starts with good listening for you to be able to understand each
others side.Just like Fumiyam in Pinoy Big Brother they are really compatible to each
other even though they don't came from the same country they manage to build a
friendship between them. They also prove that having different language is not a
hindrance for you to be friends to someone.

Language barrier starts to us people we are the one who's building it maybe because of
being shy to talk to someone especially to foreign people or when we are visiting other
countries. It's hard to communicate to someone when you are new to that place or
country because you know nothing about them and you get shy easily.

Language is needed for any kind of communication, even people with speech
impairments communicate with sign language and brail. Communication becomes
difficult in situations where people don't understand each others' language. The inability
to communicate using a language is known as language barrier to communication.

Language barriers are the most common communication barriers which cause
misunderstandings and misinterpretations between people.Most of the people in the
world do not speak English or, even if they use, it is their second or third language. If
the speaker and receiver do not use same language and words, there is no meaning to
the communication. Not using the words that other person understands makes the
communication ineffective and prevents message from being conveyed.
Causes of Language Barriers

Difference in language

Difference in language is the most obvious barrier to communication as two people

speaking two different languages cannot communicate with each other. For example, an
American goes to China. The person does not understand Chinese and most people in
China do not understand English. So, when the person speaks, the communication is
worthless as the other Chinese person doesn’t understand it

The accents and dialect (use of words) of people belonging to different places differs
even if their language is same. Though the languages are technically the same in
people using different dialects and accents, the meanings, implications and
interpretations of words are different, which may lead to various kinds of conflicts.

No Clear Speech

People who speak soft or in a small voice cannot be understood. The sender might be
saying something whereas the receiver might understand something else. Though
speaking common language, people might have difficulty understanding the meaning of
the message and the feedbacks. This might also be a cause of obstacle in
communication.

Use of Jargons and Slang

Jargons are the technical words used in communication. It might be different according
to different professions, specialty and technical field of a person.

Word Choice

The choice of word used in describing anything must be considered before

communicating. The words used by a particular person to show their agreement on
something can be taken as sarcasm which is negative in nature.

Words with two meanings, homonyms, homographs, homophones should always be

avoided as it doesn’t send the proper meaning and can be interpreted in any way. So,
the message will not be sent as intended which acts as a type of language barrier in
communication.

Literacy and Linguistic Ability

Some people have low vocabulary in a particular language whereas some very high.
Though literacy and education increases the need to learn new words, it might not be
the only reason. People can increase their vocabulary by reading and with their own
interest too. Vocabulary is also less if a person uses the language as their unofficial
language.
Grammar and spelling becomes a barrier in communication as people from different
parts of the world can be using it differently even in a particular word. Similarly,
grammar and spelling mistakes create a huge communication barrier in written
communication.

It states that not all people in the world can speak english when 2 people with different
languages talk there will be no clear message to be understood and it will be worthless
and a waste of time.there are different causes of language barrier the difference in
language which is the most common problem even if you are in the same country there
will be different accents and dialect it will be still hard to understand each other.No
clear of speech means that some people just have small voice and sometimes the
listener may understood it wrong,The use of slang words it but every country has
different slang words so it may not help to use these to speak to foreigners,and

Language Discrimination here in Philippines language discrimination always happen

especially to those "Bisaya People" Many people mocking their language and the way
they speak just because they don't understand it or they find it funny. It is hard for some
Filipino people to understand the other people around them they don't even think that
it's their own language there is something funny on it. The pain of someone is their
happiness they don't respect someones language even though they are their own
countrymen.

A lack of appropriate communication through education or familiarity of language can

lead to common traps and/or mistakes that many of us make. Examples of these
mistakes may include misinterpreting a facial/body gesture, words or phrases that may
carry different meanings in another language or culture. Educating professionals on the
pitfalls of language barriers should contribute to ensuring that the needs of clients are
being met on different levels. More efforts have been made over the past few years in
regards to utilizing language interpreters within more community organizations.It simply
says that not understanding or listening well to the other people with different language
may cause miscomunnication/misinterpretation on his/her gestures and may even
cause a feud so to avoid that we have to be understandable to one another and help

However in our age we cannot really change one's mind easily,we cannot stop them
from discriminating other peoples way of speaking.Its not that easy because this
generation is full of hard headed,boastful and arrogant people who don't know how to

The purpose of this research is to find more solution on how to break language barrier
and language discrimination. This study is trying to answer the following questions"Is it
possible to break language barrier/language discrimination?,How do people
communicate when they don't speak the same language?,What are the challenges in
having a language barrier?,Have you felt discriminated by someone just because of the
way you pronounce a word/phrase?"etc. And the study hopes to show that there is still a
chance to break language barrier and discrimination and a chance to communicate to
someone that doesn't speak the same language as yours.This study will benifit all the
people.

In this paper after the introduction, we discuss the theoritical framework,explain the
methology and present and discuss the results of the stud. The last part of the paper
describes the proposed learning materials.
