Instrumental Playing

Rules:
1. The piece must be a classical composition either original or simplified and
arranged closest to the original composition.
2. The instrument must either a guitar, recorder, violin or keyboard instrument
in piano setting.
3. Popular music is not allowed.
4. Contestants are free to choose any classical composition of any composer
such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin,
Liszt, Brahms and other classical composers.

 Interpretation - 35%
(Tempo and Dynamics)
 Technique of Playing - 35%
(Dexterity of Fingers)
 Choice of Piece - 10%
 Mastery of the Piece - 10%
 Stage Deportment - 10%

Story Telling/Pagkukwento
Rules:
1. The contestant can either sit or stand.
2. Microphone should be used.
3. The delivery must not exceed 5 minutes. The timer will ring the bell at the
end of 5 minutes. One point will be deducted from the total score for every
30 seconds exceeded.
4. Interpretation of the pieces must focus on the eye and facial expressions.
No other parts of the body must touch the floor except the feet.

Criteria:
 Interpretation - 40%
 Delivery (Diction, Pronunciation and Intonation) - 30%
 Choice of the piece - 10%
 Mastery of the piece - 10%
 Audience Impact - 10%

Declamation
Rules:
1. Contest pieces must be any topic suited for a declamation: it can either be
in poetry or in prose.
2. Microphones should be used.
3. The delivery must not exceed seven (7) minutes. The timer will ring the cell
at the end of seven (7) minutes. One (1) point will be deducted from the
total score for every thirty (30) seconds exceeded.
4. Interpretation of the piece must focus on the eye and facial expressions. No
other parts of the body must touch the floor except the feet.
5. Declamation piece which portrays vulgarity and violence such as rape,
terrorism, murder, sexual harassment, incest cases and other immoral and
criminal acts are not allowed.

 Enunciation - 10%
 Stress - 10%
 Accent - 5%
 Suitability of the piece - 15%
 Mastery of the piece - 10%

Vocal Solo (Classical)


Rules:
1. The piece must be a Filipino classical composition. The lyrics must be in any
Filipino language, not in English.
2. The soloist must sing with tape recorded accompaniment, or live
accompaniment in either guitar, or keyboard instrument in piano setting.
However, in the higher level competition (Regional Meet) live piano
accompaniment is required.
3. Popular songs (pop music) is not allowed.
4. Transposition is not allowed.
5. Contestants are free to choose any Filipino classical composition in any
Filipino dialect.

 Tone - 40%
 Tone quality - 20%
 Flexibility - 10%
 Range - 10%
 Musicianship - 30%
 Interpretation - 10%
 Melody - 10%
 Tempo - 5%
 Dynamics - 5%
 Diction (Clarity of sounds, vowels and consonants) - 10%
 Piece (Quality, Suitable to singers range) - 10%
 Stage Deportment (Stage Presence, Showmanship) - 10%

Vocal Solo (Pop)

Rules:
1. The piece must be a pop song, preferably inspirational song, composed by a
Filipino or a Foreigner.
2. The use of an accompaniment such as minus one, tape recorded, keyboard
instruments are allowed.
3. Participant is free to choose a composition suited to his/her voice range.
4. Back-up singers in the minus one is allowed provided they do not sing
louder than the soloist during the entire performance.

 Musicianship - 20%

 Rhythm - 5%
