The Outdoor Mini Box is a 4U outdoor BBU Subrack with the BBU and an AC/DC Power
equipment (AC Power Input needed). 1 OMB can only provide power for 1 RRU.
PIX-Plus Distributors will be wrapped in the lower area. The Upper part are reserved for
patching.
The layout will come from VDF and should be available before the SWAP will start.
Make sure that the connection between BBU3900 and the Pix Verteiler/Distributor has been
made accordingly.
The following RTN Modules are being used in the VDF Project:
RTN910 + RTN950 + RTN980
The E1 connections will be realized via the boards SP3S(16xE1) or the SP3D (32xE1).
For the Ethernet connections in case of IP RAN, the LAN connection will be realized via the
EM4F/EM6F board.
In case of an STM1 connection, the board SL1D will be used.
In case of existing Ericsson transmission equipment ( Huawei Microwave not available yet),
we could use a special solution of a Krone Block:
Please use the external document „E1 Transmisssion via Krone Blocks” as reference.
4.2 Downtimes
a) It is important to inform the RIC in realtime when the downtime starts and stops!!!
b) Important Timeframe is when the last sector has been blocked and the first sector is
on air -> please report these times also to the RIC
c) Any other site issues should be reported in a very accurate way to the RIC.
5. Onsite Preparations
For example you want to enter site MXB007,so you have to sent an SMS to +49-172-5289612
with the following text:
naview e mxb007
Now you have to wait for the answer. A successful message should be:
„Anmeldung an mxb007 OK”
If you do not get a successful message please call the VDF NMC: +49-211-5337401
Make sure that the DIP Switches are set correctly for the WMPT (DIP Switches are on
the circuit board, 1 means ON):
Plug in USB Stick with the correct BTS Software Version to the USB port of the GTMU but
make sure that the fiber cables from RRUs are connected to the CPRI Ports of the GTMU.
When USB Stick has been inserted, the Software will be automatically loaded to the Boards
and the start configuration File. The „RUN” LED will blink for 0.125s and go off for 0.125s.
It will take approximately 25-30 Minutes to finish the load.
5.5 Load NodeB Software & Configuration via USB Stick or Laptop
Prepare the UMTS USB Stick and copy the software & the configuration file (configuration
file name has to be „NodeBCfg.xml”) to the right folder:
Please make a right-click on the NodeBCfg.xml file and select „Open”. Now search for the
string „SITE” and check if the „STNAME” is for the correct site!
Plug in USB Stick with the correct NodeB Software Version & the correct configuration file
to the USB port of the WMPT but make sure that the fiber cables from RRUs are connected to
the CPRI Ports of the WBBP.
When USB Stick has been inserted, the Software will be automatically loaded to the Boards
and the start configuration File. The „RUN” LED will blink for 0.125s and go off for 0.125s.
It will take approximately 25-30 Minutes to finish the load.
Maximum 4 E1 s can be connected to the GTMU Board and therefore the GTMU has 4 LEDs
(LIU0-LIU3) for each E1 on the right upper corner which are either „ON” or „OFF”.
„ON” means -> NO TRANSMISSION
„OFF” means -> TRANSMISSION OK
In case more than 4 E1s need to be connected an additional board (UTRP) needs to be
inserted to the BBU.
In case the BTS software needs to be verified , you need to use the Site Maintenance Terminal
(SMT) .
a)Change the IP settings of the Laptop to 192.168.0.220 with Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
d)Type in User Name (admin) and Password (admin) – The default IP address for the BTS is
192.168.0.72 ...if it does not work use new Name(admin) and new Password(/hwbs@com)
h) Click “OK”. Doubleclick on “GTMU” and the RRU Window opens. Selet the
MRRU ,right-click on it and choose “Board Information”.
Unfortunately the WMPT Board does not have any LEDs for indicating if the transmission is
ok or not. For checking the E1 Status you need to use the Local Maintenance Terminal
(LMT).
2) Start the IE browser, enter the IP address(192.168.0.49) of the base station in the
address box, and click Enter to log in to the WebLMT
3) Login with user name and password:
d) LST SITE:,
If Not you need to download the config file via LMT software
e) Run the MML Command „DSP E1T1:;”

All configured E1s should show “Available” for the Link Running Status
b) Run MML command “LST SOFTWARE:;” .Inform the RIC immediately if the SW
Version is different.
a) General Rules:
Site has only GSM : ext. Alarms run over GSM
Site has only UMTS : ext. Alarms run over UMTS
Site has LTE&GSM: ext. Alarms run over GSM
Site has LTE&UMTS: ext. Alarms run over LTE
Site has only GSM&UMTS: ext. Alarms run over GSM
Site has LTE&GSM&UMTS: ext. Alarms run over GSM
The following external alarms have been defined for VDF D2 (16 Alarms over the
UPEUc/UEIU and 1 Alarm over the RRU from first sector):
It could also be that a 2nd UPEUc is installed in Slot 18, but the Ports will be the same as for
the UEIU.
g) Check the alarms on the BTS/GSM via SMT (Connection Procedure in Chapter 7.3)
Active Alarms (only Alarm IDs, not the alarm text) can be seen on the bottom of the SMT
h) Check the alarms on the NodeB/UMTS via LMT (Connection Procedure in Chapter 7.3)
Run MML command „LST ALMAF:;”.
Please ask the RIC for the BCCH&Primary Scrambling Code(PSC)/Sector and the
Azimuths for the GSM900/1800 & UMTS2100.
In order to avoid crossed feeders partner needs to check the BCCH&PSC/Azimuth
against the site build and the azimuth values from the sitesheet. If something is different
please inform the RIC immediately.
Please use a compass or GPS device, identify the azimuth of each sector and conduct a
static testcall in each sector roughly 50-100meters away from the site and confirm :
-Sector orientation is correct
-Correct BCCH/PSC is radiating from the correct Cell
-All Feeders are correctly installed and labeled
Always inform the RIC if something is not clear.
Bitte beim RIC die BCCH&Primären Scrambling Code(PSC)/Sektor und Azimuths für
GSM900/1800&UMTS2100 anfragen.

getestet):
c) UMTS2100
For UMTS2100 the following calls need to be done one time per site only:
Folgende Gespräche müssen einmalig für UMTS2100 durchgeführt werden:
d) For Emergency Call/Notruf -> Text in Deutsch vorbereiten & dann muß der Text dem
Notruf Operator vorgelesen werden/Text needs to be prepared in german language and then
read to the emergency operator
Beispiel/Example:
Please have a look at the example of an FAcc document. You only need to fill out the
technology that you have swapped/installed on the site. For example if you only swap GSM
900 and GSM 1800, then you only need to fill out the parts where GSM 900 &1800 is
mentioned as well as the common parts. For already existing technologies like LTE , you do
not need to fill out anything.
6.9 Deinstallation
Not 100% clarified yet, still under discussion with VDF but probably a higher percent of sites
need to be disassembled and the hardware needs to be returned to VDF.
For example you want to leave the site MXB007,so you have to sent an SMS to +49-172-
5289612 with the following text:
naview l mxb007
Now you have to wait for the answer. The successful message should be:
„Abmeldung OK”
If you write naview l mxb007 –d , you will get the info which alarms are active if the
successful message does not come.
If you do not get a successful message please call the VDF NMC: +49-211-5337401
You also need to lock out of the Naview system after leaving the site by sending an SMS to
+49-172-5289612 with the following text:
naview ld
Now you have to wait for the answer. The successful message should be:
„Abmeldung vom Dienst erfolgreich”
Under certain circumstances if you enter a site somewhere in the afternoon/evening and you
do not lock out of the system, it can happen that you might be blocked to enter another site on
the next day. Therefore it is mandatory to do the lockout every day.
