cannot make it to church due to
sickness or infirmity. If you know of

“Understanding Grief”

lives. This is an opportunity to share your grief story in
a safe and supportive environment where you will be

PEROGIE SALES
Recently, our perogie ladies made a batch of perogies
that sold out very quickly. They made $460 and had
fun working together. Thank you to all the ladies who
generously gave of their time!

If you are new to the parish or have been attending
Mass here, ensure that you are registered by completing
the tear off section at the front of this bulletin. Please
do not take for granted that you are registered in the
parish, just because you attend Mass here.
In the future, should you be in need of a pastoral letter
(godparent, school, sponsor for confirmation, teacher
referral, etc.), it would be difficult to issue one if you
are not formally registered with the parish.

The “persistence” of God’s
love for us transcends our own
doubts, our distractions, our
hurts and disappointments.
We are always embraced in the
heart of God, an embrace we
experience in the love of
others; we are always held in
God’s memory, remembered
in every moment of
forgiveness and healing.
Today’s Gospel challenges us to see the “persistent
widows” in our midst: to recognize their struggles and
the gifts they possess that we overlook or
discount. Christ promises that the Father hears the
worthy prayer of the Gospel widow in her many guises
and that her perseverance in faith will one day be
rewarded — and Jesus challenges us to put aside our
obliviousness and self-absorption and see her. In her
many guises, she is Christ in our midst.
Sometimes we are the persistent widow of today’s
parable, persevering in seeking what is right and just,
trusting in God’s grace in response to our prayer – and
sometimes we find ourselves in the role of the judge,
who can be the answer to another’s prayer if we stop,
listen, and realize that God has given us the means to
respond.
We possess a faith that empowers us with hope and
discernment, enabling us to persevere despite the
injustices and indignities that are so much a part of
life. Jesus assures us that the integrity, commitment to
justice and humility we maintain in the face of
skepticism, rationalizations and the amoral
“conventional wisdom” will one day be exalted by God.
Jesus’ parable of the dishonest judge challenges us to
consider how we use whatever power we possess, how
we employ the authority entrusted to us by others: Do
we use our power in the service of others? Do we
exercise our authority to create community and to
provide for those who are struggling or lost?
WEEKEND MASSES IN OCTOBER
During the month of October, we will be reciting the
Rosary before Mass as a community. Please make an
effort to come 15 minutes early to join us.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Today on World Mission Sunday, we are invited to
celebrate our mission’s vocation, to pray for the people
who are actively engaged in mission, and to generously
contribute to our worldwide mission solidarity fund
through this collection. Please give generously.
FOOD PREP / KITCHEN CREW
For any who took the course and received a certificate,
please forward a copy to the parish office. We are now
putting out the call to anyone who would like to be part
of this team - including those who don’t have a
certificate. As a volunteer, you may want to come out
only once or twice a year and others more often
depending on availability or type of event. Kindly let
the office know when you sign up. This info will be
helpful to us so we know when we can call.
AUTOMATIC BANK WITHDRAWAL - Contact the
parish office if you would like to go on monthly auto-
matic withdrawal for your donations.

THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE &
MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
Traditionally the month of November is a time when we
remember in prayer all who have died.
The Book of Remembrance is now in the entrance of
the church for the remainder of the month of
October. You are invited to write in the names of the
deceased loved ones and friends you wish to have
remembered in prayer by the community during
November. The book will then be placed at the foot of
the altar as we pray for all the departed souls during the
month of November. You can place the Remembrance
Envelope in the collection basket or bring them to the
parish office. Remembrance envelopes are available at
the Church entrance.
DIOCESAN ANNIVERSARY MASS
Married couples celebrating a 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th
anniversary in the year 2019 are invited to the
diocesan anniversary Mass, Monday November 25,
2019, 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of
Alexandria, St. Catharines. To register and receive a
formal invitation from Bishop Bergie, contact the parish
office .
A special Mass of Remembrance for
our loved ones who have died during this
past year on Saturday November 2nd,
at the 5:00 p.m. Mass. All parishioners
are welcome to attend.
