Dilip BRS Chapter 9

In the BRS it is stated “A sannyasi must not be eager to make unqualified disciples, nor
should he unnecessarily read books that disrespect the Lord, or give discourses as a
means of livelihood. He should not engage in big projects, which distract him from his
spiritual goals” Explain the meaning of this verse

na śiṣyān anubadhnīta granthān naivābhyased bahūn na vyākhyām upayuñjīta

nārambhān ārabhet kvacit (SB.7.13.8)-SG BRS C7 Pg82
na śiṣyān anubadhnīta means that one should not induce a person into
sampradaya for any material benefits and this kind of material attitude is rejected here
and for other two principles also.
If the person is unqualified then provide siksa before diska, everybody is
unqualified which is why we are here. One should be trained to study and analyze
Prabhupad books and related vaishnav books while applying in their life and chanting
minimum rounds by which one become serious then provide diska, however increasing
number of unserious disciples for pride or false honor, artha etc, leads both to fall down
on highway of hell

Risk of reading other non Vaishnav books are unnecessary which is like mud in
molten gold results in mudslinging in his degraded lectures (prasangas) while attracting
with some magic’s etc creates disturbance to society and devotees by which he falls
down in matter of executing Krsna Consciousness moreover no escape from anger
society who expresses through stone pelting. If one studies more Vaishanav scriptures
which is in line with Bhagavatam and gives more lectures on these topics are pleasing
Lord and everybody will appreciate him.

There are four stages of sannyasi kutichaka, bhahudaka, parivrajakacharya,

paramahansa. In all stages forbidden to personally execute projects which are
secondary. First two stages he should live very simple life with less responsibilities while
practicing Bhakti very seriously but after becoming strong in preaching Krsna
consciousness in level of bhahudaka while printing books as suggested by Bhakti
Siddanta Saraswami Goswami(pg 83) then one can engage secondary in primary by
guiding if any person offers to build projects to spread Prabhupad movement.

These three principles applicable to all devotees and should be very careful to
deal. As a sannyasi being in highest social order (narottama), should not even think of
committing these mistakes based on material attitude otherwise should not accept
sannyasi.
