HAZARD RISK CONTROL MEASURES
Untrained worker, lack of Personal injury Only inducted worker shall be deputed at the work place.
skill awareness Given tool box talk to all workers
Work should carry under supervision
Medical check up should be done before start work
Safety induction should be given to all workers
Gate pass & required PPE’S.Safety helmet, safety shoes,
reflective jacket, hand gloves, safety goggle etc. Must be
provided.
Only skilled workmen should be deputed for the job
Slips, trips and falls Personal injury Work place should be cleared from unnecessary materials
and objectives
Use proper PPE’S
Person/ machine may Electrical Ensure verified the layout for underground
contact with live wires shocks cable,pipelines,telephone and power cables
Material leakage Power cable present isolate the power /de- energized,
locked and tag provided.
If the telephone/instrument cables present, informed to
concerned authority.
Collapse The sides of the excavation can be sloped back (battered)
at an angle that is sufficiently.
Objective falling in The sides of the excavation cab be supported (shored)
with metal or timber.
People falling in Personal injury The sides of the excavation can be temporarily supported
by a metal box.
Collapse of adjacent Barriers should consist of guard rail to prevent of people
structures falling
Good lighting and signage should be provided
Access to the excavation should be achieved by properly
positioned and secured ladders

Flooding Ladders should be extended five rungs above the edge of
the excavation to give a secure stepping of point
Vehicle should be prevented from approaching the
excavation sides by use of barriers and signage
If vehicles have to approach the side of the excavation (e.g
back fill) then stop barriers should be positioned to
prevent vehicles from rolling in
Workers in the excavation should wear PPE’S like hard hats
and safety shoes
Pumping the water regularly
De water pump should be guarded and good condition
All Electrical connection should be routed through ELCB
All the cables need to be elevated and only insulated
cables to be used.
All the electrical joints spliced properly.
Collision/ cave in Personal Lorry driver should have a HMV licence.
injury/property Ensures fitness certificate required for lorry’s
Over speed damage Access should be clear and kept speed limit signage’s
pedestrian and vehicle moment should be separate
