Release Notes
READ ME FIRST!
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the 3ware 7000/8000 Series Serial ATA RAID Controller. Please refer to
the Errata section before installing your controller or calling technical support. This document
describes important recommendations and feature descriptions that were not included in the CD
documentation.
Highlights
To enable Software 7.7.1 features, the following firmware, driver, 3DM and CLI versions are
required:
Flash Image
Firmware version: 1.05.00.068
BIOS version: 1.08.00.048
Monitor version: 1.01.00.038
OS Drivers
Windows driver version: 1.15.00.014 (Windows 2003/XP/2000)
Linux driver version: 1.02.00.037 (Red Hat 8.0/9.0, SuSE 8.1/8.2)

captured by 3DM if both are running.
Important Issues
Use of Riser card with 66MHz Products
Before using a riser card, please review LSI’s customer advisory PDF at the following link:
ftp://tsupport:tsupport@ftp0.lsil.com/private/3ware/downloads/TWCA001_1003.pdf to identify
compatibility issues between certain controllers and chipsets.
Note
Parted extends the 2TB partition limit on Linux 2.6
Current Linux “fdisk” versions have a partition size limit of 2TB. Use the “Parted” tool for
partition sizes greater than 2TB.
Upgrading 3DM
When upgrading 3DM from an older version under Windows, all information in the Alarms pages
will be lost. Save a copy of the Alarms pages locally, before upgrading.
