proceeds from each pink pumpkin sold
to organizations involved with breast
cancer research. The Pink Pumpkin
Patch Foundation was created in 2012
to aid in the fight against breast cancer.
On Oct. 19, Norman Farm also is
scheduled to host a family fun day/

addition to all the normal things like
pumpkins, squash, gourds and other
accouterments of fall, there will be a

Also included in the four popular
routes that start in Cadillac is a 65-mile
tour that leads drivers through Tustin
and into Lake County through Luther,
past the Little Manistee River and the
Luther Dam. It continues on a loop that
goes through Hoxeyville and past the
Caberfae Scenic Outlook, where the view
will encompas miles of wooded forests
and hills.

Just south of Cadillac, Reed City offers
access to two popular biking and hiking
trails. The Pere Marquette Trail and the
Fred Meijer White Pine Trail intersect
there. To walk or bike this trail from
Reed City, look for the Reed City covered
bridge, a popular landmark just a quar-
ter mile from where the two trails meet.
The bridge is accessible from U.S.-131
and U.S.-10 at the intersection in Reed
City. At the four-way-stop, turn toward
Reed City. The bridge is on the left.

One of the state’s longest rail/trails
starts in Grand Rapids and extends
92-miles north to end in Cadillac. The Ca-
dillac Staging Area is located at 7184 E.
44 Road in Cadillac and has space for 15
vehicles. This is a paved trailed hugged
by beautiful foliage, farm fields and an
occasional pond. Whether you walk or
bike, it’s a breathtaking experience.
Eleven miles from the staging area is Tu-
stin, where you can enjoy a bite to eat or
a visit to the Pine River Museum before
heading back.

A small-town Christmas
is perfect in Evart EVART — Christmas will be
coming to Evart a little early
with plans for this year’s Christ-
mas in a Small Town underway.
The City of Evart will once
again host its annual Christmas
festival, Christmas in a Small
Town, on Saturday, Dec. 7 from
1 to 4 p.m. thanks to the Cross-
roads Community Church.
At the Evart Depot on the cor-
ner of Main Street and Railroad
Avenue, there will be a Christ-
mas carnival filled with games
for all ages, pony rides and a
bonfire where guests can stay
warm while enjoying some ear-
ly Christmas spirit.
Stepping inside the depot,
kids will be able to meet Santa
and Mrs. Clause and have their
pictures taken.
As guests walk across the way
to the Crossroads Community
Church, they will find more fun
and games with the Euro Bun-
gee and hot dogs and hot choco-
late that will be served through-
out the event.
Inside the church, tables will
be set up filled with Christmas-
themed arts and crafts.
The pony rides and Euro Bun-
gee will require a parent’s sig-
nature for children to partici-
pate.
Other activities throughout
the celebration will include a
hayride with caroling and a

CADILLAC — For parents who
might have a youngster who is unsure
whether or not they’ll like ice fishing,
there is a weekend in February that is
tailor-made for them.
All fishing license fees will be waived
for two days this winter, Feb. 15-16, as
part of Free Fishing Weekend, which
is held twice a year — once in the sum-
