Submission Guidelines for project naming challenge

1. CONTEST DESCRIPTION

Airbus is launching a project and is looking for a name that is not an acronym and which is
potentially suitable for eventual use as a trademark within the Airbus brand family.

What it is about
If you have ever seen birds flocking together in a v shape when migrating, then you have seen
the aspect of nature that Airbus is trying to make feasible for airline operations.

We call it Wake Energy Retrieval; it is what happens when a follower aircraft rides on the
updraft caused by a leader aircraft’s wake vortex. This enables the follower to make a
significant reduction in their fuel burn and emissions.

Apart from the fuel burn reduction, another interesting aspect of this technology is that it will
lead to airlines behaving a bit like car sharers. Airlines who want to use a wake to save fuel
will often need to work with another airline and cooperate so that they can make it happen.

We want to find a name which inspires people around these ideas, which is notable and
innovative, and is consistent with the values of the Airbus brand.

We are asking you to come up with a name that doesn’t use the words ‘wake’, ‘vortex’, ‘sky’
or ‘air’, and which isn’t already in use by an aviation business or trademarked.

Can you solve this riddle?

If you can then please submit a .doc document, including:

 your idea for a project name
 an explanation of why you think this name suits our project
 outcomes of your research into other people’s uses of this name or similar names

A prize of $500 will be awarded for the name that most captures our imagination and
can be used in our market activities, submitted before 23.59 CEST on Sunday August
11th 2019
