Higher Education in Japan: Basic Requirements for Applying

Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship

Undergraduate Course: 4 years Bachelor course

Fields of study:

 Humanities & Social Science


 Natural Science
 Engineering
 Dentistry & Medical Science
 Agriculture

Academic Qualification:

 Humanities & Commerce : GPA 4.5 both in SSC & HSC

Grade A+ in English & Mathematics

 Science (Engineering) : GPA 5 both in SSC & HSC

Grade A+ in English, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry

 Science (Medical Science) : GPA 5 both in SSC & HSC

Grade A+ in English, Mathematics, Biology & Chemistry

Subjects for Examination:

 Humanities & Commerce Group : English, Mathematics & Japanese


 Science Group (Engineering) : English, Math., Chemistry, Physics & Japanese
 Science Group ( Medical Science) : English, Math., Chemistry, Biology & Japanese
College of Technology: 3 years in Technical College
After graduation from a Technical college, the student may admit in a bachelor Course (3rd year)
in Japanese University as a transfer student.

 Material Science Engineering


 Mechanical Engineering
 Electronic Control Engineering
 Electrical & Electronic Engineering
 Computer Science Engineering
 Architecture & Civil Engineering
 Maritime Engineering

Academic Qualification:

 GPA 5 both in SSC & HSC

Grade A+ in English, Mathematics & Physics

Subjects for Examination:

English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Japanese

*To be chosen according to applicant’s intended major.


Master and Doctoral Course

Fields of Study:
 Humanities & Social Science Group
 Natural Science Group
 Pure Science
 Biological Science
 Engineering
 Agriculture
 Commerce Group
 Dentistry & Medical Science Group

Academic Qualification:
All through first class (Mark 60% or CGPA 3.5 out of 4)

Masters Course: Completion of a bachelor course or have 16 years of school education

Doctoral Course: Completion of a master’s course or have 18 years of school education

Attention:
In cooperation with the Japanese Embassy, the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh will
perform primary screening of applicants by means of submitted application documents.
Written examination and interview will be held at Japanese Embassy.
Undergraduate and College of Technology applicant’s age must be below 21 years.
Masters and Doctoral course applicant’s age must be below 35 years.
All classes will be given in the Japanese language. Each grantee will be enrolled at a
preparatory school designated by MEXT for a one-year intensive course in the Japanese
subjects necessary for preparation for proceeding to University & Technical College.
