ISO 14001 is an International standard that provides a
framework that any organization can follow to set up an effective
Environmental Management System (EMS). By implementing

The Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle
A four-step model for continual improvement:
PLAN: Establish the processes needed to achieve the
environmental policy (i.e. identify aspects, laws, objectives,
targets and programs)
DO: Implement the processes (i.e. assign responsibilities,
train people, communicate, control procedures, control activities,
prepare for emergencies)
CHECK: Monitor and measure the processes and report the results
(i.e. monitor, evaluate compliance, respond to failures,
keep records, audit yourself)
By implementing an Environmental Management System,
companies can reduce waste, use less energy and thus help to
save money and the environment. It also displays a commitment to
