Subject: 2019 AREA LEVEL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE

1. Pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No.7079, otherwise known as the Campus Journalism Act of
1991 and Division Memorandum No. 24 s. 2019, LD4 will conduct Area Level Schools Press
Conference on September 10, 2019, 8:00 A.M. at Jones West Central School-Campus-1, Jones,
Isabela.

2. The conference aims to:

a. provide opportunities to the school journalism coordinators, paper advisers, coaches and
young writers to be updated with the latest trends, basic concepts and effective principles
on journalistic writings.

b. select qualifiers for the 2019 Division Schools Press Conference.

3. The following are the categories for the individual and group contests.

a. News Writing
b. Editorial Writing
c. Feature Writing
d. Sports Writing
e. Editorial Cartooning
f. Copyediting and Headline Writing
g. Photojournalism
h. Science and Health Reporting
i. Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting

4. Participants are Top 5 winners in the individual categories both English and Filipino during
the District Schools Press Conference.

5. The participants shall bring the following materials.

a. Photo Journalism ( Point and shoot camera only with maximum of 20.1 mega pixel,
laptop , card reader, empty memory card, ball pen, extension wire )
b. Editorial Cartooning ( Mongol Pencil # 2, long bond paper )
c. Copy Editing and Headline Writing ( Any pencil )
d. Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, News Writing, Feature Writing and Science and
Health Reporting ( ball pen and papers )
e. Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting (laptop, printer, extension wire and other
equipments)

6. Radio Script writing and broadcasting and photojournalism participants will no longer
attend the opening program for they start the contest at 9:00 A.M. in the morning.

7. The top 10 winners in each category will receive certificates of recognition and compete to
the Division Schools Press Conference on September 19-21, 2019 at Tumauni North Central
School, Tumauni, Isabela.

8.School without newsletter can still join in the Area Level but qualifiers to the DSPC should
conform with “No School Paper, Non Contestant Policy” (2018 0r 2019 issue)
9. Enclosed are the Program of Activities, Matrix and List of Facilitators
10. Immediate wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired.
