Одрживи развој - одрживи развој је циљно оријентисан, дугорочан, непрекидан,
свеобухватан и синергетски друштвени процес трансформација који утиче на
све аспекте живота (економски, социјални, еколошки, институционални и др.) на
свим нивоима. Одрживи развој подразумева израду модела деловања који на
квалитетан начин задовољавају друштвено - економске потребе и интересе
грађана, а истовремено уклањају или знатно смањују утицаје који прете или
штете животној средини и природним ресурсима.

Одрживи град/насеље - „Одрживи градови и насеља су она у којем је

економски, социјални и просторни развој тако осмишљен и реализован да траје
и који обезбеђује квалитет живота свим грађанима. Одрживи градови и насеља
користе своја богатства и ресурсе на којима њихов развој почива и од којих
зависи, на начин који не угрожава расположивост ресурса и њихово дугорочно
коришћење. Одрживи градови и насеља обезбеђују и одржавају сигурност од
природних или руком човека створених хазарда који могу
угрозити њихов развој.
