 Good conduct time allowance or GCTA is a sentence reduction provision afforded
prisoners who show good behavior. Good conduct time allowance or GCTA is the most
important alphabetical representation to the prisoner. It is earned through his demeanor while
serving time in the prison system. It is something that is immediately reflected on his prison
record as a tentative computation on the timeline of his incarceration and also Good time can be
forfeited if a prisoner is determined to have committed disciplinary infractions and/or crimes
while incarcerated.

Now, this is not the only question we can ask about the controversy that again surrounds
the convicted rapist and murderer, but it is the most personal one: Do you believe that persons,
no matter how heinously they’ve acted in the past, The Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA)
Law is not the first enactment of its kind. Many judges have floundered on the test of applying
the Indeterminate Sentence Law. It is the piece of legislation that qualifies the application of
penalties prescribed in the Revised Penal Code, requiring the imposition of an “indeterminate
sentence” so that the possibility of an earlier release is offered the inmate who conducts himself
properly and shows himself capable of a restored place in society. Deplorable and execrable as
this form of corruption may be (of which we know region in this blighted land), the corruption of
the system is not argument against the system. Also, there can be no wholesale rescission of
grants of good conduct time allowance, for some, if not many, who have been beneficiaries of
the concession may have been deserving. In fact, a sound legal argument may be made that the
order that all those released under GCTA should voluntarily make their way back to their cells or
face dire consequences, probably even enforced disappearances, violates the principle of “vested
rights.”

GCTA is important for people who are incarcerated because every day of their life and
every move or action requires time and limits because they need time in jail. Because they need
to use it in jail to interact with others they need to be able to change their behavior through the
gcta because this is the only thing that can help themselves to make their life or behavior better.
It should also be one heart and live for them. gcta for them to be neat and changeable.
