One to One Mentoring Session Structure and Scenario

Time: 30 Min
Goal:
1. Build a strong one to one relationship between mentor and consultant
2. Discusses common values, shared interests and unique resources
3. Explain any issue from journey

Agenda
Start the session with explanation of the goal of the session in a nutshell
1. ​The mentor will introduce himself & will facilitate the consultant’s introduction about
himself. (5 min)
2. The mentor will facilitate an ice breaker “find 5 common things between them” (5 min)
3. The mentor will answer the consultant’s questions (if any) (5 min)
4. The mentor will make sure that the participant is aware of the commitment and adding
value. (5 min)
5. The mentor will collect Reflections and feedback about this 1:1 Session (5 min)

Session Scenario
Notes.
It’s very important to know that items no. 1 and no. 2 are not separated as they look like in
this structure, so it's highly recommended to be in a very friendly way and have a dual
channel communication theme.
The main goal of this exploration time of the story of self is not only answering the ​what
question but also answering the ​why​ question to reach what’s behind what you and him
have done in your life in order to know your shared values and build a commitment on this
solid ground.

1. The mentor will introduce himself & will facilitate the consultant’s introduction
about himself.. (5 min)
Note. Show your enthusiasm and excitement about this opportunity to know the
participant and build a strong relationship with him/her by sharing your positive feelings,
your tone of voice and your body language.
Mentor’s introduction oneself:
Name
Professional and career life (what you are good at - qualified and/or certified )
Your interests (what you love to do in your life – activities – hobbies)
You and SeGa Group (why you choose to work in SeGa Group especially – why SeGa
Group)
Your role and responsibility in this project
Minimum of personal information

The consultant’s introduction about himself.


Notes:
- The general theme of your facilitation of the consultant’s introduction about himself is
the open ended questions and the optimum goal is to make him/her open up easily and
feel comfortable to talk about him/herself confidentially.
- Show your interest in what he/she is telling you genuinely and ask him/her to talk more
about certain point if needed.
-- Share your positive feelings, what you are looking forward from this relationship.

The mentor will facilitate an ice breaker “find 5 common things/values between them” (5
min)

2. The mentor will facilitate an ice breaker “find 5 common things between them” (5
min)
- Ask the participant to think together about 5 things that are common between you
both, that ​cannot ​be basic i.e. “you ​can’t ​say we both have skin or we both have
eyes” however you ​can ​say “we both are athletes or we both love reading,
common values, common goals”

3. The mentor will answer the consultant’s questions (if any) (5 Min)

Suggested question:
Do you need any clarification about certain stage of our learning journey?

After answering all the consultant’s questions you have to make sure by telling him/her:
I want to make sure that everything is crystal clear right now!

4. The mentor will make sure that the participant is aware of the commitment and adding
value. (5 min)
Speaking of a learning journey like ours with long term interactions (Online – Face-to-
face – Missions, etc.) needs a very high level of commitment.
Suggested questions:
What do you think about that ?
What you are going to commit upon during this journey ?
Is there any upcoming circumstances that could disrupt your learning experience ?
We are really keen to make sure that you will benefit and enjoy the maximum of this
learning journey and we are looking forward to see you (his/her Name) in our graduation
ceremony and we are willing to do any additional effort for the sake of that, so if you
think about any request that could help you please don’t hesitate to tell me.

5. The mentor will collect Reflections and feedback about the 1st Mentoring Session (5
min)Note.
The theme of this part is that the participant feedback is very important and highly
appreciated.
Suggested questions :
In the end of this session I would like to know how do you feel now?
Do you have any points of improvement that you want to mention about the 1st mentoring
session.
