Depok, Princess of Indonesia Environment 2019, Jolene Marie Rotinsulu took part by doing cleaning
along the Pesanggrahan river, Limo, Depok, West Java on Tuesday (8/13/2019).

"Along the Pesanggrahan River, I encounter a lot of household waste, ranging from plastic bag
waste, streoform, drink bottles. Even when we walk through a rubber boat, my head is hit by plastic
trash stuck to a tree trunk that protrudes into the river," said Princess of Indonesia Environment
2019, Jolene Marie Rotinsulu who is concerned about the condition of the river Pesanggrahan, Limo,
Depok, West Java.

According to Jolene, Pesanggrahan River should be a tourist destination that can be enjoyed by
domestic and foreign tourists. No exception is a typical income of the local government.
Unfortunately, the fertile river is overgrown with shady trees along the riverbank, filled with
household waste.

"It's a pity even though Pesanggrahan river water is still quite clean, if only the community, ranging
from teenagers, adults and parents do not litter, wow, that's really good. Many children still bathe at
Pesanggrahan River, you know!" said Jolene.

On the same day, Jolene also came to the Limo Environment Activist Community. Communities that
empower used rubbish, such as plastic bags, old newspapers, used drink bottles, caps, coffee
wrappers, detergent traces and many other rubbish. Plastic waste from the river is collected and
some is taken to be processed into bags, wallets, mats and others.

"Very interesting. I immediately made a wallet from a used plastic bag. Cool. Things that are made
have economic value. I am very grateful, it turns out there are people who pay attention and use
garbage and recycle it into something that has economic value, "he explained.

Add Jolene again, he will continue to campaign and educate the public so that they can replace the
use of plastic with environmentally friendly bags.
"I will continue to campaign and educate the public so that they can replace the use of disposable
plastics, asking the government to issue regulations to industry players in order to minimize the use
of plastics, policies for businesses not to use disposable plastics. And educate the millennial for
lifestyle environmentally friendly. " obviously joline.

At the end of his activities in Limo, Jolene also visited one of the private elementary / junior high
schools in Limo, Depok. Jolene provides education to children to start getting used to being
environmentally friendly, such as bringing drinking bottles (Tumblers) and food from home, taking
out the trash in its place, and being able to sort organic and non-organic waste.

Not only that, Jolene also plans to socialize the problem of plastic waste to the disability community
and tough elderly people. "Yes, the moral message is that those with limitations only care about the
environment, we should be more concerned, then," concluded Jolene.

Moral issue

We must be aware of an increasingly old earth and keep from all kinds of pollution. By way of caring
for the environment starting from around us. Especially plastic waste, we know that plastic waste is
difficult to decompose even up to 10 years of plastic waste has not been completely decomposed.
We must find a solution for this waste by providing education about ways to utilize it. The news
above gives us motivation to care more about the environment and the earth that we place it. As
mentioned it will be river water pollution which should be our shared responsibility and there must
be reforestation to prevent flooding due to overflowing river water due to blocked river flow. In my
opinion this education is very moral about our common concern. With this education it is hoped that
we can contribute more to the condition of our environment.
