1. SELECTION OF TOPIC?
Global Ayurvedic Village project is a cross sectorial concept, leveraging the ASSOCIATIONS OF AYURVEDA ACROSS THE WORLD
interlinkages between Industries, health care, human psychology and well being.
The list below shows few of the renowned Ayurveda Associations across the world. The
Ayurveda offers a rich and dynamic body of knowledge that provides comprehensive presence of such a large number of associations itself shows how important a Global
disease management and supports holistic wellness on a deep level. With its roots Ayurvedic Village project is.
dating back over five thousand years to India, Ayurveda is distinct in that it focuses on
harmonizing the unique constitution of an individual with the natural rhythms of our
world. Utilizing nutrition, lifestyle, herbal medicines and time-tested therapies,
Ayurveda brings the elements back into balance within the body to create total
wellness. (Source: Ayurveda Medical Association Of India, AMAI)

Though Ayurveda is well-known as an alternate treatment methodology; the issues

faced by the sector have never been addressed methodically, which includes lack of
infrastructure for skill development of professionals, Standardization, Documentation,
International recognition, Global Acceptance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship
development, use of modern technologies in diagnosis, Research & Development.

Thus working on such a topic will help in dealing with projects of a market which is
growing at a very fast rate on a Global scale.

The acceptance of 21st June as Yoga Day by 177 countries of UN itself proves the
popularity and demand of the Ancient Indian Knowledge namely Ayurveda, yoga and
meditation. Being Indians it becomes our greatest responsibility to work in this field to
spread our ancient knowledge. Also this subject of meditation and Ayurveda is not only
a concept but an immerging field having immense business prospects (Eg. Kairali
Ayurvedic Resorts, Isha Foundation, Patanjali and the list goes on….).

(TSMs: Traditional Systems of Medicine )

So, considering the above concepts and facts Global Ayurvedic Village comes off as a
credible thesis topic. But, not only as thesis topic in architecture, the whole process of
it, beginning from desk appraisal to case studies then finally through research and
implementation in design will help in cultivating thoughts and personality, helping in
holistic development as an individual.
