TREATMENT

THERAPEUTIC PLAN IN ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT

Change the lifestyle and should be established in all hypertensive patients and also in
individuals with normal-high BP.

The purpose of such measures is to

1. Reduce BP

2. Prevent the development of cardiovascular disease.

WHEN TO START PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT

1. Degree of elevation of the BP

2. Patient's age.

3. Concomitant presence of other diseases (such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease or

established cardiovascular disease).

Immediate treatment in all patients with grade 3 hypertension

Moderate or moderate to high risk

PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT IN PATIENTS BY GRADES

Hypertension Grade 1: There is a low risk of complications, therefore a change in

lifestyle is recommended and diuretics would only be administered if BP is not

TIAZIDAS
HIDROCLOROTIAZIDA Tabletas 25 – 50 mg Adultos: 12.5 – 50 mg QD
CLORTALIDONA Tableta Atenolol 100 mg + Adultos: 12,5 a 50 mg/dia, una sola
clortalidona 25 mg dosis.
 Grade 2 Hypertension: Thiazides + ACEI or ARA II (If angioedema occurs due to the
use of ACEI, we increase Diuretics) PA: 160 A 179/100 A 109

Treatment A: Thiazides + IECA or ARAII

ENALAPRIL Tablet 5 and 20 mg 5 a 40 mg Bid

LOSARTÁN Tab. 50 and 100 mg 12.5 a 25 mg/day
CANDESARTÁN Tab. 8, 16 and 32 mg 8 – 32 mg Bid

Treatment B: IECA or ARAII + Calcium Antagonists

ANTIGONISTS OF CALCIUM - DIHYDROPRIDIMICS
NIFEDIPINO Tablets de 30 mg 30 a 60 mg /dia

AMLODIPINO Tablets: 5 mg 5 mg al dia .

Arterial Hypertension Grade 3: BP: + 180/110.

We use Beta-blockers - non-selective and selective adrenergic agents.
