however, was the clear waters of the
small town of „Bonito“ in south west Bra-
zil. They are an Eldorado for any aquarist
or nature enthusiast!
Their rich variety of fish and the over-
whelming abundance of huge plant popu-
lations under water are breath-taking.
For the Echinodorus enthusiast the head-
waters of the „Rio Baia Bonito“ are an
unbelievable experience: Plants up to 1
m high, with pink-coloured heart leaves,
stand in the crystal-clear water. And this
is just one of the many destinations in
which the „planta hunter“ looks more
closely in order to be able to incorporate
his observations in Dennerle products.

As here in the Rio Sucuri, Brazil, life under water can be best understood when you are in the middle of it.
You do not have to travel to far away countries to marvel at impressive underwater worlds. The Blautopf on the Swabian
Alb is a fascinating example of this. The intense blue colour of the water in this 21m deep karstic spring is a result of light
refraction in the chalk-rich water. Close to the shoreline, magnificent plants like water-crowfoot‘Ranunculus aquatilis‘ grow
in the cold spring water.
