CHAPTER I

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY

This chapter includes the general business information about Tots Company, which are: company
history, company description, mission and vision statement, company goals, company objectives
and company values.

History

The potato business sprang from the recipe experiments of Ms. Bianca Barcena who has
cooking for a hobby. Before Tots Company, she had been selling home-made products to her
neighbors, friends, and relatives. She then decided to start a small business since orders have been
surging since. Ms. Barcena sought help from her friends Ms. Kyla Baldoza, Ms. Meghan Bantog,
and Ms. Elaine Nodo in order to help manage the expansion of the business; they also started hiring
more workers in order to manage manpower.

Company Description

Tots Company is a small business which offers stuffed mashed potato balls. Tots Company is a
partnership form of organization is located in the Ateneo de Naga University Main Campus. The
business began from the owner experimenting for different recipe styles; she then started taking
orders from neighbors, close friends, and relatives then decided to establish a business from that
one product. Tots Company aims to satisfy more customers with their innovated product and to
provide high-quality service to potential customers. Tots Company’s name was derived from
simplifying the word “potatoes”.

Mission Statement

Tots Company aims to gain customer satisfaction through their product innovation and attract
more potential customers through their high-quality customer service..
Vision Statement

“Potatoes that bring delight in every bite”. Tots Company envisions itself soon to be a leading
and a competitive business that lives by its values with the primary concern of giving satisfaction
to customers and providing high-quality service to them.

• To keep the business intact and competitive
• To maintain and achieve a strong bond, trust, and loyalty among the customers
• To capture a bigger market share outside of the current business market

Short-term Goals
• To maintain and improve customer service
• To be able to create an identity for the business through its products
• To ensure that there are enough sales to earn back the capital while also earning profit • To
