To See is to Believe

One of the most controversial issues in this world is the statement of "Seeing is believing".
It’s a never-ending debate between people. People cannot accept the fact that there are people who
believe into something that our naked eye can’t see. Religion, love and even the creation of the
universe are included. What would be the life of the person if he only depends on something he
can see? What would be the life of the person that supports “believing is seeing”? In this world
full of lies, theories, and illusions, it is hard for us to believe into certain things. It will depend on
you whether you agree or disagree in the statement “To see is to believe.”

This topic is being avoided to be open up in some places since it is sensitive for everybody.
There are a lot people who chose the statement “Seeing is believing”. They said why would
someone believe to something that doesn’t exist or something that we can’t see. “Faith is the
confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot
see” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT). People nowadays says, “I will believe it when there’s a proof.” In 1961,
the Soviet Union sent the first cosmonaut into space. When the cosmonaut returned to Earth, the
Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev declared they’d been to space and didn’t see any god there. About
10 months later, the United States sent John Glenn into space. He circled the earth three times on
his Mercury mission, came back down, and told the world, “I saw God everywhere! I saw his glory
in the galaxy. I saw his splendor in the universe. I saw his majesty in the stars.” (Rick Warren,
2017) Which one was right? They both were. Jesus said, “Unless you are born again, you cannot
see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3 NLT). The difference is that John Glenn do believe and he has
faith to God. That’s why everything that he sees was created by God. Before, there is spiritual
transformation in your life, you’re too narrow-minded to see the possibility of what God wants to
do in your life.
 Most of us think that the scientists always contradict with the statement “To believe is to
see”. But Wernher von Braun, the leading scientist in the early stages of the U.S. space program,
said, “There has never been any great accomplishment in history without faith.”

So in short, the reason why we were able to put a man on the moon because scientist believe
it and they have faith. It is also faith that causes an architect to design a building because, first, he
believes it can be done. It is faith that causes an Olympic athlete to practice and go to the Olympic
trials because he believes she can achieve. It is faith that causes a sculptor or an artist to believe
that he can paint a picture or attempt the sculpture. Someone has to believe it before you see it.
Just like what Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “I had a new vision in front of me, and I always feel
that if I can see it and believe it, then I can achieve it.” Every achievements and accomplishments
of him, it was all because of faith. He also said, “Vision creates faith and faith creates willpower.
With faith there is no anxiety and no doubt – just absolute confidence in yourself.” It basically
means that you should have faith for you to become successful. You can’t live without faith. What
do you think is the life of people if they live in this world full of “To see is to believe”, “I will not
believe it because I can’t see it.” How boring is their life isn’t? If you kept supporting that
statement, then your life has no motivation, you have no dreams, you’re living without happiness
and excitement.

One of the facts is the movie, “Breakthrough.” John Smith, an adopted boy from
Guatemala, is a living, breathing, walking miracle and his unbelievable true story is going to be
seen on Cinema. John was 14 years old when he fell through the ice in a Missouri lake. When
rescue crews got him to the hospital, he was declared dead for 45 minutes. His mother, Joyce,
prayed to God to bring back her son. His pulse miraculously returned. John's pastor, Jason Noble,
got to the hospital right after Joyce prayed and he felt like God had called him to stay by John's
side for seven days, 18 hours a day. "The doctors said that there was a 1 percent chance that he
would make it overnight. If he did that, he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. I mean they
were starting an organ transplant. It was so serious, and we took a group of pastors into the room
and we just started praying for him," Noble said. "We called out to God and, through a series of
incredible miracles, he walked out of the hospital 16 days later." All because of FAITH. Without
faith, that kid should be dead right now. But his mother believes in God, she has faith that his son
can bring back to life since he was just clinically dead. There is no person who lives from being
clinically dead, but faith did.

“To believe is to see” is definitely hard to believe. Believing into something that our naked
eye can’t see? That is somehow suspicious, but then, that will test our faith. Faith is not faith until
it’s all you are holding onto. Faith can strengthen our ability to meet challenges and face hard
conditions. An individual without faith is like a deflated balloon. Everybody has had difficult times
in their life when it has been hard for them to keep the faith, to not stoop down, and to not act out.
Being able to stay strong and to have faith in God helps us to be able to face our giants with
boldness. Although it is hard to believe at first, but if you do have faith and you can feel the
presence of God, His grace, blessings and His love? There’s no difficulty at all. Yet, you will feel
blessed and happy knowing that you believe in God. That you have faith on your dreams, that you
know that you can do all things because you believe in God and you believe on yourself.
