Your Task:
You are required to read the case document “The (Go)SMART way to agility: managing a Scrum subproject in a waterfall environment “which is provided in
a separate document.
You assume yourself to be Joe Freya, who is leading the GCOM project that sits within the organization’s IT portfolio. GCOM must be integrated with the
organization’s existing systems, including what is being provided by the organization’s long-term IT service provider(s). You also plan to bring a paradigm
change to your organization’s default development approach, replacing the waterfall methodology with a more flexible agile methodology, Scrum. You have
done some testing with Scrum and are generally happy with it. However you still have concerns over the productivity of your existing development team
due to their limited experience with Scrum. You believe it is more cost effective to engage an external company with Scrum expertise to assist with
development and implementation of the GCOM project and, more importantly, to develop internal expertise for long-term benefits through a real project.
You have successfully sourced half a million for the project.
Currently you are preparing a Request for Proposal to be distributed to IT companies who are potential tenders for the GCOM project with Scrum
experience. You need to be as specific as possible in terms of what you need, when you need it, the cost and technology constraint and many others that
you consider essential for bidding.
The word limit of your report is 4000 — 5000 words. The report is expected to include a title page, table of contents and reference list.
Submission Requirements
You are required to submit to MyLO submission tool for this assignment before the due date.
The School’s Late Assessments policy (available from http://www.cis.utas.edu.au/downloads/ExtensionPolicy.pdf) describes the penalties for late
submission and also explains what to do if you are unable to hand in your assignment on time for genuine reasons, such as illness.
You will lose marks for: omitting the table of contents; for not structuring the report logically; for poor or inconsistent formatting and layout of the report.
Referencing (10%)
Even though a RFP may not indicate references, I would like you to provide some key references that support your ideas and proposals in your RFP report.
Detailed information on how to use referencing properly is available on the UTAS website at: http://utas.libguides.com/referencing.
