IV. EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Dengue awareness

In this activity, we are grouped into 3 members each. We were task to give flyers and
share knowledge about dengue. The faculty members are the target share of awareness of this
activity. We discussed things that should an individual do on how to avoid acquiring dengue and
mosquito infestation and when should seek advice regarding with this matter. As we all know the
dengue is fatal if we just ignore this situation.

Search and Destroy

This activity is part of the dengue awareness where an individual will search for any
possible place where can mosquito lays its eggs as this is the carrier of dengue fever. Were
grouped into 10 members with a designated area to implement this search and destroy. The
common place where mosquito lays its eggs are in shallow area where the water can be stagnant
especially the polluted one which they need to live their eggs. Those are what we are going to
search and destroy so mosquitos won’t they their eggs anymore. Some area that can’t be
destroyed must be reported so the school can solve and make an action about this.

Clean-up Drive

Maintaining the cleanliness and discipline is one of the main goals of this subject. We
have been cleaning around the NSTP area where we are assigned. Some of us will pick garbage
plastics, some will sweep dried leaves and some are watering the plants. Gardening equipments
such as the broomstick, dustpan, shovel, rake and water sprinkler are used. This is necessary to
maintain cleanliness not just to look pleasing of our surrounding but also to avoid acquiring
diseases.

substitute to traditional brick that is used to build walls. It was made with plastics that is cut into
smaller pieces then inserted to plastic bottles. Atleast 500g to 2kg must fill the bottles with
plastic that is 1-2 litters. When the bottle fills with enough weight, they will be assemble to make
a new things from recycled materials. Some of those are chairs, tables, fence and a dustbin.

Dengue is fatal. Anyone can acquire this whether children to adult and not even rich or poor.
That is why cooperation is really neede to avoid this scenario and successfully destroy the
breeding area mosquitoes carrying dengue virus.

Clean-up Drive

This is another way to implement Environmental awareness and Protection. Daily cleaning of
our surroundings will promote a healthy way of living. The feeling freshness and free from any
possible illness is what cleanliness can do.

Water rescue and survival 177

It is important to learn this survival skills because we cannot tell when and where an unwanted
incident or accidents can happen. Being prepared is much better before its too late. Knowing
how to use survival equipments will be beneficial for fast response and extending survival time.

Recycling and creativity is what needed in here. As well as the patience to fill the bottle with
plastics cut into smaller portion. There are a lot of ways to use the ecobrick in creating new
things.
