- Rhyming games- M ake flashcards of words t hat rhyme wit h pict ures
like hat and mat and have t he kids mat ch t hem. Read rhyming books
and challenge your child t o t hink of as many words t hat rhyme wit h a
word you t hink of like "cat , "mat ", and "fat " for t he word "rat ".
- Allit erat ion Game- "I am going on a t rip" is an allit erat ion game. An
allit erat ion is t wo or more words t hat all share t he same init ial sound.
Person one st art s out saying, "I am going on a t rip" t o a cert ain place
and t hey have t o bring an it em t hat st art s wit h t he same sound of t he
place. For example, "I am going on a t rip t o California and I am t aking a
cat ." Person 2 t hen has t o repeat t he person and add on t o t he list . It
cont inues unt il someone makes a mist ake.
