 Job Description:

The previs artist reports to the leader or pre-vis leader/previs

supervisor/the assistant production manager. Their job is to create a
dynamic cinematic vision for a film that supports a narrative. It is
executed in way to inspire the rest of the crew. They also work with
the directors to translate their work into 3D models and animation.
They have to have very creative solutions to aesthetic problems.
 Main Equipment:

Previs Artist are pre-production processors that mainly

work with 3D animation. They use equipment like virtual
cameras to bring CG into a film and the environment. They
also use augmented and virtual reality. They also use
combinations of storyboards and computer-generated
imagery or more famously known as CGI.
 Training/Schooling & Skills:

To be a Previs Artist you have to:

. Be used to an app called Maya( a 3D computer graphics

application)

. Have skills in Digital Art and Animation

. Have some knowledge of filmmaking principles like

cinematography, scene staging, blocking, and continuity
editing.
 Union:

A union that Previs Artists can join is called Previs Artists United.
At Previs Artists United, you can use your work and make them
into 3D Models . You can also learn to be a Skilled craftsperson
working on hit films and T.V shows.
 Salary Range:
The average previs artist at Halon Entertainment makes about $38/hr
and the average previs artist at THE THIRD FLOOR Visualization makes
about $145,645 annually. In this case the previs artist is paid well. Over
$100,000 more than the average american makes per year.
 Famous Previs Artist: David Dozoretz

David Dozoretz is a previs supervisor from Phoenix, Arizona, He

is well known to have worked on movies ranging from space travel to
superhumans, He started his journey when he was just 20 years old
working at The Art Department of George Lucas’s Industrial Light &
Magic he worked on “Mission: Impossible” then five years later on “Star
Wars” prequels. He has since worked on his newest creation “ZAFARI”. A
tv program with two seasons based on animals with different
colorations and features, this story follows a baby elephant with zebra
stripes, Alongside other characters like a rhino with baboon features

Magali Barbe is known for working on movies such as Avengers : Endgame,

Infinity War, and Avatar. Magali started her directing career a short film
called Strange Beast. She has been nominated for best short films in a
variety of competitions and has so far won 4 awards direction of Strange
Beast and This Time Away. She has also worked on shows such as an
episode of Black Mirror titled “The Waldo Moment”. This episode is about
“A failed comedian who voices popular cartoon bear named Waldo finds
himself mixing in politics when TV executives want Waldo to run for

reality that allows you to create and grow your own pet.
