Negative effects of the teachers’ use of full english EYL classes

“ Language learning for young learners must be a fun and enjoyable

experience” (Bland, 2015, p. 285). Full English in the EYL classroom that is used
by teachers not all students can receive the material properly. The ability of
students is different. The use of daily language that they can understand. Only a
few students can understand the teacher using full English. Especially, in EYL
classes of using full English for students can bring two negative effects.

Firstly, negative effect such as occurs pronunciation errors can not be

understood by students (Damayanti, 2008, p.37). It can make decrease knowledge
of English in young learners. Therefore, mixing first language with English is
more attractive for young learners. It can understand the lesson well. Using full
English can not be did in the EYL classes, brain capacity in young learners can
not be forced to think and translate what the teachers' talk (Damayanti, 2008,
p.36). Given those points, using full English in the EYL class is not effective for
young learners who are difficult to understand and rarely use full English.

Secondly, the other negative effect can make young learners do not
understand the material. Thus, human brain tends to put confusing things
(Musthafa, 2008, p.4). Material explanations delivered by teachers using full
English can make students confused. If young learners can not understand what is
explained, young learners becomes uninterested in learning English. Knowledge
of English from a teacher who is not proper and does not use good grammar can
cause young learners do not to understand the lesson.

In conclusion, In using full English in EYL classes it is very ineffective for

young learners. Young learners could not understand clearly what the material
was delivered, because of mispronunciation or did not understand the vocabulary
spoken.
