Exercise 01: Create Basic Item

Overview

Product Information Management enables users to manage items, item structures, item
catalogs, and item relationships. The items defined can then be assigned to organizations.
Based on their definitions these items can be purchased from suppliers, stored in warehouse,
and/or sold to customers as needed.

Scenario

This script will walk you through the create item flow.

Step Action
1. Click the Item Management icon.

2. Click the Create Item link.

3. In the Create Item popup, enter and select the organization where you are creating the item:

4. Select Create New radio button.

5. Enter Number of Items: 1

6. Select Item Class: Root Item Class

7. Select Finished Goods template from the Selected List.

8. Click the OK button.

9. On the Create Item page, enter the description

11. On the Check and Apply Data Quality Results for Item popup, click the Apply button.

12. On the Edit Item page, make a note of the system generated item number.

13. Click on the Associations tab.

14. On the Associations tab, click the Select and Add icon.

15. On the Select and Add popup, enter search organization as 001. Also, add to Organizations
002 – Atlanta and 003 – Chicago

16. Click the Go button.

17. Select the row for organization 001.


18. Click the Apply button.

19. On the Edit Item page, click the Save button.
