CONTEMPORARY ARTS

- Arts that springs out of the present-day events and passions of the society

MODERN ARTS

- Arts emerged in the late 1800s and continued to grow for more or less a century

INTEGRATIVE ARTS

- These are Art forms are interactive and multidisciplinary in nature. Refers also to the different art
categories can be melded together to produce anintegrated art

SUBJECT

- Is any person, animal, thing or issue that described or represented in a work

THEME

- is a recurring idea or element in a work of art that referral to the ideas ,thoughts and feelings of an
artist

ART STYLES

1. Realism

- The subject is done the way it usually looks

2. Distortion

- the artist uses his/her imagination and alters the subject according to his/her desire

3. Abstraction

- the artist break apart a subject and rearranges in a diff. Manner

4. Non objectivism

- there is totally no subject at allf


IN visual design, artworks with the subjects that are recognizable are called realistic, representational or
objective art

ART ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES

1. Harmony

- refers to the wholeness of design and pleasing arrangement of parts

2. Variety

- pertains to the assortment or diversity of a work of art

3. RHYTHM

- it is the regular and repeated pattern in the elements of art

4. PROPORTION

- A relationship between the elements that gives a pleasing appearance to the viewer's eye

5. Balance

- pertains to the even distribution of weight

6. Movement

- is a fundamental principle in choreography and the theater arts

7. Emphasis

- a principle that gives importance or dominance to a unit or area

1. Space

- it can defined as a void, an emptiness which can either be positive or negative


2. Line

- the extension of a point, a short or long mark drawn or carved on a surface

3. An enclosed line,a figure separate from it's an background and a three- dimensional representation

4. Color

- a mixture of organic or synthetic substances called pigments. Used as paint or dye

5. Value

- the degree of lightness and darkness of a color

Texture

- is the surface of an artwork. It can be actual (felt by touch)or simulated ( be seen,not felt)

KEY ELEMENTS

CONTEXT

- refers to the varied situations in which the artworks have been produced or interpreted

CONTENT

- Subject matter that carries the message of the work. It is what the artwork all about

FORM

- the first key element that a specto should consider and it is a surface feature of an artwork
