1. What scholarships or financial aid are available?
FAFSA is an application available for everyone to sign up for. Merit scholarships are
available from many colleges, they are given to students who meet or exceed certain
standards set by the scholarship-giver. There are other scholarships based on a student’s
financial needs.

2. When are the application deadlines?


Application deadlines start in November and go till January. Although some schools have
deadlines in October. Early action deadlines are usually November 1 and November 15.
For your RD schools May 1st is the national response date. FAFSA deadlines are
December 15. Scholarship deadline for Cornish is also December 15. Merit scholarships

3. What is the overall cost of college? Tuition, living, food, ect.

4. Is there an option to have a minor at this college?


Some majors require you to have a minor although most do not. Most schools do give
you the option of having a minor if you want.

5. Does this college have a good department for my major/minor?


Cornish College of the Arts offers pretty much any art major, so they have a really good
art program. Along with several other programs for design and film. The art program
includes drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and new media.

6. What classes am I required to take in order to graduate?
For the first year I would need to take Interdisciplinary studio 1 & 2, critical + contextual
studies 1 & 2, and writing analysis 1 & 2. Second year classes are Integrative studio,
media lab, critical + contextual: global art, critical + contextual: contemporary art,
Research in liberal arts 1& 2, and college electives. Year three has studio: inquiry +
practice 1 & 2, media lab, critical + contextual: theory & practice, and college elective.
Senior year you have to take research studio 1 & 2, advanced directed studies,
professional practices, critical + contextual

7. What resources does this campus offer to the students?


Most campuses offer libraries, computer labs, free peer tutoring, and help form the
faculty.

8. What kinds of programs does the school offer in terms of internships, career planning,
and development?
Some colleges have a Career Development Center or something similar that handles all
co-op placements along with internship opportunities. Some colleges even offer summer
internship programs.

It’s usually your SAT/ACT that matters more than GPA, especially for more competitive
colleges. Although GPAs are still important because it tells colleges your ability to think
critically as well as academically. SAT and ACT score will still be the main focus in your

12. How do you apply for a scholarship?
If you go to “scholarship finder” you can search for different scholarships and if you
click on one it tells you how to qualify for that certain scholarship. It also tells you where
to apply for the scholarships. You can also use the college board website to help you with
the application process. It also offers a link to its scholarships search engine.

13. Should I get a part time job as a student or focus on school?


Depending on the school situation (such as scholarships or grade requirements), working
can be very good for college students. It gives students work experience, time
management skills, and extra cash. In conclusion, yes, a part time job would be a good
idea.

14. How many colleges should I apply to?


-Around 6 or 9 in groups of 2 or 3, the colleges being grouped into easy colleges to get
into, colleges you want to get into but aren't sure if you'll get in, and lastly reach colleges
you don't think you can get into but are good colleges​.

15. Are extracurricular activities important in college?


For students who are on scholarships or must meet a certain grade point average, many
extracurriculars are not the best idea in order to make sure there is enough focus on
school. However extracurriculars are a great way to meet new people who share interests
and hobbies, gain new skills, and they’re great for overall entertainment. Extracurriculars
can help add to the collegiate experience.
