3.2.2. Electrical connections

The two FWC are powered by separated electrical sources.


-A320 FWCs:
-The FWC 1 is supplied with 115 vac – 400 Hz coming from the essential bus identified
401 XP and protected by a circuit breaker (3WW) located in the avionic bay.
-The FWC 2 is supplied with 115 vac – 400 Hz coming from the bus 2 identified 201
XP and protected by a circuit breaker (2WW) located in the avionic bay.

-A330- A340 FWCs:


-The FWC 1 is supplied with 115 vac – 400 Hz coming from the essential bus identified
901 XP and protected by a circuit breaker (2WW1) located in the avionic bay.
-The FWC 2 is supplied with 115 vac – 400 Hz coming from the bus 2 identified 202
XP and protected by a circuit breaker (2WW2) located in the avionic bay.

In addition, each A330- A340 FWC is connected to a Push Button for reset, located in the
Overhead Panel in the cockpit.

PHASE 1: EXTERNAL PARAMETERS ACQUISITION AND VALIDITY

- Acquisition of external parameters (analog, discrete and ARINC data) from the SDACs and
external systems.

- Parameters selection, depending on source (SDAC1 or SDAC2 for example) and validity.

- Transmission of some selected parameters acquired from the external systems to the DMC

PHASE 3: WARNING COMPUTATION AND MANAGEMENT

- Warnings computation based on acquired parameters with a filter depending of the flight phase (many
warnings are inhibited during landing and take-off phases).

- Warnings management depending on the warning computed (different cockpit effect depending on the
class) and other additional external data (ECP P/B, priority, etc):

• Warning message transmission to the DMC by RS422 message buses for the E/W Display.

3.2.5. Interface capabilities

FWC can acquire/provide different types of inputs/outputs:

DISCRETE INPUT/OUTPUT

Discrete signals are DC voltages in the range from 0 volt to 36 volts, in which only two zones are valid:
- High level included between 18 and 36 volts.
- Low level included between 0 volt and 3.5 volts.

Each FWC may acquire or transmit two kind of discrete signals:


- P- type
- P+ type

ANALOG INPUT/OUTPUT

The FWC can acquire a maximum of six analog inputs (synchro information).
Only 4 out of 6 are used as follows:
- 2 analog signals are used to transmit flaps position (1 for system 1 and 1 for system 2)
- 2 analog signals are used to transmit slats position (1 for system 1 and 1 for system 2)

The FWC transmits analog outputs to the Loudspeaker for audio.

A synchronisation is used between both FWC audio outputs to prevent emission of confusing sounds.

3.5.4. CAL processing LRU

The Cockpit Amplifier Loudspeaker is a completely analog system which enables by mean of its different
modules:
- the reception
- the processing
- the amplification of the warning signals and aural information generated by the FWC
and Radio systems required for navigation and communications.
