principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
SO 2: An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with
consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental,
and economic factors.
SO 4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and
make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global,
economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

Course Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
CLO 1. Recognize principles of materials mechanics and design philosophies related to the design
of steel structures.
CLO 2. Design tension members, compression members, connections, beams, frames and base
plates according to AISC specifications.
CLO 3. Prepare final calculation sheets with comprehensive design and complete details for an
industrial building project according to AISC specifications.
